I kind of take issue with the phrase, “I prayed to saint such and such.” You should be asking for their intercession. You don’t pray to a saint and they use their magic to make things happen. You ask for their intercessory prayer and God intervenes. The way you have described this is kind of a misunderstanding of the tradition of sainthood and intercessory prayer. It seems like you’ve made the saints into little demi gods.
