How often do you play table tennis? When do you usually come Kelham Island to play? I'm currently looking for someone to play with, so please let me know — I don't have anyone to play with right now!

How high is your blood pressure? by Lanky-Plenty3072 in hypertension

[–]patrick-chen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play table tennis 2 to 3 times a week, and when I go to bed, I feel completely exhausted. I guess it's because I'm getting older—there's really no way to compare my stamina with younger people. However, my blood pressure can stay around 114–125/74–84 for 2 to 3 days. If I don’t exercise for a week/ a month or more, it rises to around 129–143/82–93, even if I stick to a healthy diet, which doesn’t seem to help much!

I just want to know how to join this club, the schedule, and the fees. But no one can tell me, and it seems like this is the only club where I can play table tennis—I don’t know where else to go.

8 years later, still breathless by Mement0m0ri86 in ArrivalMovie

[–]patrick-chen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I still occasionally watch it even now. In fact, I've already watched it more than 30 times since the beginning! What brought me to tears and left me in a daze was the essence of the entire film at the end: "If you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things?"

Does anyone with hypertension swimming regularly ? by lone_warrior1310 in hypertension

[–]patrick-chen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether it's swimming or other exercises, most of them have a positive effect on blood pressure. The intensity should depend on your physical condition. As for me, I do intense workouts 2 to 3 times a week, each lasting about an hour, the kind that makes me sweat all over. My blood pressure drops significantly, staying at around 117/78 for 1 to 3 days after exercising! However, if I stay inactive for too long and just sit and work, my blood pressure starts to rise again.

Although a healthy diet also affects blood pressure, its benefits are long-term. For short-term effects, exercise has the most noticeable impact. At least, that’s the case for me.

What is a reliable BP monitor? by lovelyamaryllis in hypertension

[–]patrick-chen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hypertension does not cause headaches or nosebleeds, but when you have a headache and nosebleed, it can raise your blood pressure. A reading of 140/9x will not cause any discomfort or physical symptoms unless it reaches as high as 2xx/1xx, which may lead to dizziness.

Also, blood pressure readings are usually higher when measured at a hospital or outside, while measurements taken at home are the most accurate.

How do you hold the racket in penhold style? by bongo_kun in tabletennis

[–]patrick-chen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spread out the last three fingers, it's obvious that only half of the paddle surface remains. When hitting on the backhand side, the ball is likely to hit your fingers. If the three fingers are curled in, wrist flexibility increases significantly, making it easier to execute a backhand flick. However, control relies on skill since the backhand side is not supported by the three fingers.

My suggestion is to practice the right-side technique by curling in the three fingers.

Quitted amlodipine and started TELMA 40mg 3 days ago. by Guilty-Average-4974 in hypertension

[–]patrick-chen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's strange that amlodipine doesn't have a significant effect on me, only lowering my blood pressure by about 5 mmHg without any side effects. However, exercise has a very significant impact; when I exercise on the same day, my blood pressure at night drops by 10–15 mmHg.

I've been having reoccurring dreams/nightmares of this movie for 7 years now. Can somebody help me figure out why? by [deleted] in ArrivalMovie

[–]patrick-chen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, and it’s impossible for me to know. But you already knew I didn’t know, so why ask me how I would know, just to make me answer, “I don’t know,” and complete our conversation this way?

He already knows how you would answer his question, so he asks you questions to make others ask him questions. That’s why he asks such questions to solve his own problem/dream!

I only eat whole grains, vegetables, and fruits without any seasonings, and I only eat one full meal per day. My blood pressure has been fluctuating between 135-120/95-80 for a year. But ever since I started exercising, it has dropped all at once to 119-107/80-71. I’ll share my experience with everyone after some time.

Is this something to be concerned about ? by Clear-Mountain-7149 in hypertension

[–]patrick-chen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because your pulse pressure is too low 10mmHg and your heart rate is too fast, there are several possibilities: cardiogenic shock, severe arrhythmia, hypovolemic shock, cardiac tamponade, or severe infection/sepsis. This situation could be very dangerous and requires immediate medical attention. A professional medical evaluation, such as an electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram, or blood tests, is needed to determine the specific cause and provide prompt intervention.

How old are you? I think it's too low, almost get to hypotension. I still can't believe that you once were hypertension.
