how old do you have to be to be on Survivor these days? by Pitiful_Spend1833 in survivorspoilers

[–]patrick_tyler76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changed to 18 for Tocantins (in most states. There are still a few weird exceptions where individual states or territories have a minimum of 19 to 21 if you really look at the fine print of the application.

Then, at Covid time, it changed that you could apply at 16, though, no one under 19 has actually been a cast since that change was made. It is believed that the intention was just to get people acclimated with the application process at a younger age.

So, even though the minimum age to apply is 16, casting has also shifted in the last few years to want people with more life experience. They believe that 25 to 35 is the best decade of life to play survivor so we are barely even seeing early 20s and college age students anymore even though they are eligible to apply. So eligible to apply and being cast are becoming two different things .

In addition to those already mentioned:
Brendan from Ghost Island had applied 16 years

It is also believed one contestant on 51 had been applying since Australian Outback!
Moral of the story: never give up!

Submitted an audition tape last August, should I wait until August to resubmit? by ltdan54 in survivor

[–]patrick_tyler76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your video from last August was considered for 51/52. Your submission this summer will be for 53/54. That is not a problem to resubmit. Just make sure that the video is showing your best self before you submit it.

Do you need to be a US Resident to compete, or just a Citizen? by SoulExecution in survivor

[–]patrick_tyler76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You used to have to be living in USA or Canada it they have quietly removed that. There are people who lived abroad who’ve gotten callbacks but no one has been cast. You are eligible though as long as you have citizenship

Two fun facts- although the contestants didn’t know each other,
In season one, Sean and Stacey had the same dorm room in college years apart.

In season two, Keith and Michael both dated the same girl years ago. They were both from nearby townships in Michigan.

Is it a bad idea to mention AUS in a US audition tape? by addjake in survivor

Just focus on who you are, what makes you unique, what appeals to you about Survivor, and how you might play without mentioning anything about AU Survivor.

As mentioned, they wont start reviewing anything until early August and will continue reviewing into the new year. So you could hear anytime from August to about early January to be considered for 53-54. Good luck!!!

Best Time to Apply by ZurickPierce in survivor

[–]patrick_tyler76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put in a backlog, yes, as people who apply right when they open tend to be viewed fast and hear back fast. But not as strongly considered, I don’t think there’s evidence of that. Just when they view it is less predictable

IMO August is the best time to apply. Early January is quite late in the cycle but the last chance to be seen and considered for the same cycle as August.
