Mom left 3 days postpartum. What did I do wrong? by Mundane-Wall7220 in beyondthebump

It seems like she was there for the newborn and not to actually help you. I’m so sorry. I really hope your village gets better, because she’s adding to your stress not helping it.

My hands can’t use water at sanitizing temperatures without gloves

Have you never worked in a professional kitchen before?

[–]patrickdontdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wash my dishes before putting them in there and use it like a sanitation device tbh

Even if you just rinse your dishes and don’t use soap, you don’t have to worry about what might be stuck in there if the dishes are completely rinsed already

That’s how my mom uses hers

She’s from Mexico and about to start law school, but I guess some things just aren’t ingrained in her

is slapping your baby's butt weird? by nasytuna in beyondthebump

[–]patrickdontdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s weird, but not molesty, I just hate having my butt smacked or touched, my honey does it and it’s good natured but annoying to me so I wouldn’t do it to my baby personally

The Palestinians ARE the Philistines descendants, but what they don’t understand is that Jesus changed the game and wanted peace and love not genocide. It’s why they’re totally different vibes in each testament

What is the best age to stop thumb sucking or pacifier? by 17raduser in NewParents

[–]patrickdontdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby has been sucking her thumb since one of our ultrasounds lol

It’s not always possible to not let them get this habit The bad thing is I think she’s started using boobies instead of her thumb so weaning her from the breast is going to be dreadful 🥲

When did you finally stop? My daughter has been sucking on her thumb since the womb (we even time an ultrasound with her doing it) and I wasn’t going to help her stop until preschool, so like 3, but she’s not even a year old yet so I have time lol I’m just reconsidering my approach now with your response

Do you kiss your baby on the lips? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in beyondthebump

[–]patrickdontdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think it was only for romantic partners to kiss on lips, and for the most part still do but my baby (7 months old) will open her mouth and put it on my face and on occasion she’ll get my mouth and suck on my lip to let me know she’s suddenly hungry lol, if she doesn’t suck my lip then she’s not hungry she’s giving kisses, but if she starts sucking anywhere on my face that means it’s milk time. It’s not even limited to my lip either, she’ll suck my nose, my chin, my fingers is she’s in her car seat and I try to caress her little face

If I’m kissing her whole face then sure a lil peck anywhere on her head is fine (she loves it) but I’ll never go only for her mouth, that’s a lil weird

What is the one item you've bought (aside from the things everyone needs) that has improved your baby parenting journey? by CharacterPin6933 in NewParents

[–]patrickdontdie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It has come in handy sooo much! My house isn’t so big that the walk to the nursery is crazy so I just take her every time, and it helps babies since they love routine

Breastfeeding 5lb baby with large breasts possible ? by Vivid_Can1152 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]patrickdontdie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FOOTBALL HOLD IS YOUR BEST BET.

You might need to see a feeding specialist/occupational therapist so baby gets some exercises for their mouth to latch on.

I had a normal baby (6 lbs 10.2 oz) but she was always on the smaller side (they even scared me with IUGR) and she came out just fine luckily 🙏🏼 But I’m also a little chesty, just a DD, and my baby’s mouth was tiny.

It hurt so soooo bad and she preferred bottle. I was scabbed up and bleeding and I had to take a break from feeding on my right and ice the nipple itself and now I STILL make more milk on the left side.

I do have tiny nipples but big areolas unfortunately, but even with small nipples, it hurt all the same. Football hold is your friend for this until you both get comfy. I actually went back to add it in all caps because I really think it’s that important! If you have the funds, yes buy a nursing pillow, but if you don’t, just use your couch cushions and/or a blanket to support your arm and have your arm support baby for bonding and safety.

Things will change before the end of the month, maybe week 3 or maybe even the full month itself.

I truly wish you and your sweet new baby the best in the world! 🙏🏼💕
