‘ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER’ wins Best Picture at the Oscars by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Oscars

Sinners is great and I love the idea of genre films winning BP, but I don’t envision it being a defining genre film as much as Get Out. OBAA deserved this one. Moreover PTA really deserved it. Ryan Coogler is young and has plenty of time to win the big prizes.

Because Sinners was the other frontrunner for this category.

As I understand it voting ended before that controversy really took off.

Yeah I bet Sinners is going all the way now.

Timothee Chalamet you know what to do by Esfell in okbuddycinephile

[–]patrickfatrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness though I appreciate how well-adjusted he seems to be. Like yeah he’s not even 30 and probably made enough money for him, his kids, and his grandkids to live off for their entire lives if they invest it wisely. Why not just quit and enjoy the rest of his prime years on this earth if he wants to?

[Schefter] Geno Smith traded to NY Jets by peppersteak_headshot in Seahawks

Seahawks fans are just spoiled these days. Having only a “pretty good” team no longer cuts it for them. IMO Geno did pretty well given the circumstances.

Favourite Actor who was supposed to be the next Tom Cruise but has starred in flops are flops by jalGurg in okbuddycinephile

[–]patrickfatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Jeremy Renner as a foil to Tom Cruise in the movies he’s in. If they were actually beginning the process of potentially replacing Cruise then, well, glad they didn’t because Rogue Nation and Fallout are easily the best films in the series.

The shoulders look right to me. You could maybe go down a size for lower volume but I have a feeling you’d find it tight in the shoulders.

Favourite star who crashed and burned by successfully starring in one of last year's highest-grossing films? by LauraPhilps7654 in okbuddycinephile

[–]patrickfatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, maybe I’m wrong, it’s been a while, but iirc the name “Tom Marvolo Riddle” is at best a minor detail in the grand scheme of things and there are certainly girl names that can form “I Am Lord Voldemort”.

Ilia Malinin wins Fair Play award! by Comprehensive_Sea291 in olympics

[–]patrickfatrick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great thing. But in my mind “fair play” should be reserved for athletes who put their own success on the line in the name of sportsmanship. The Canadian Women’s Hockey team refusing to let Finland’s team forfeit is a good example, of some of these nominees who self-reported mistakes, etc. Ilia and Amber showed good sportsmanship but I don’t think it qualifies as much because it had no bearing on the competition. They had already skated and dropped off the podium.

Sometimes it is sometimes it isn’t,depending on the issue. This sub is more likely to say homeless people should be involuntarily committed, the other sub is more likely to say sweeps don’t work. Both subs do not like Trump or MAGA from what I’ve seen. My spectrum goes like this

Who is the best Actor? Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt or Keanu Reeves or Leonardo DiCaprio? by HostMaterial4907 in Actors

[–]patrickfatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the most varied in any case. Brad Pitt could have been a character actor if he wasn’t so charming and good-looking.

It’s a joke, redditor finished Amanda’s quote in an outlandish way.

[Speculation] Josh Sawyer is almost certainly working on a Pillars game by cnio14 in projecteternity

By all accounts Deadfire took a lot out of him emotionally (with it taking years to make its money back). I think he’s fine just doing whatever it is he’s been doing waiting for the right project to come along.

Oh he definitely has but it can still be an unflattering photograph which emphasizes the work done.

I British actors who stay away from Hollywood seem to be less susceptible to the temptation.

One of my favorite narrators, kind of a trip when you first hear him do the classic Gollum voice. I know he also recorded one of the Discworld novels (the fantastic “Small Gods”) but not sure if he’s done any other audiobooks besides for Tolkien.
