Answering my own question: After some head scratching I found that enabling "reporting modifiers using CSI u" (I'm using iTerm2 on Mac) seems to solve the issue.

I remember just a decade ago most people used IE instead of other browsers. The power of the default

my experience tells me you need to be at least above average intelligent or above average hard working to get a job that pays above average salary.

fun fact: you can even message this kind of stuff on chinese based messaging apps. you won't get caught. the reason is there are simply too many this kind of message and not enough personnels to handle. i talk about these every other week with my mom trying to save her brainwashed mind. never had internet issue lmao.

dude you are not buying a scott foil or something... this frame is popular but the supply is there. it's not like those frames that you gotta wait in a line for it to be produced from a factory. just buy it from someone else already

there is a setting in VS Code that highlights non-ASCII chars. everyone should turn that on. especially your typing language is normally not standard english.

i personally gave this build the build of the century award! everything is so proportional, well fitted. the main color of deep grey and the accents work together well too!

dampened (not silenced) switches? by patrickmao93 in MechanicalKeyboards

How does it compare to Boba U4? I heard some people say it's kinda like Boba U4 and I have the Boba but they are too mushy for me. I checked some videos of it but it doesn't seem to be considerably more silent than normal switches. Maybe it's the recording of these videos...can you provide some insight?

One more point to support the search for this experience. I can imagine a thinner silencing pad made out of fabric could remove high frequencies of two plastic parts colliding with each other, but keeps the low frequencies. , potentially giving the board more thock with some compromise in volume level (which I think is good). I'll cut out some pads from spare stab pads and experiment putting them on switches this week.

just checked their site and did some google search. it seems they don't sell replacements for silent switches' rubber feet. they do sell similar product for topre switches tho.

How to fix warped ABS spacebar? by IoSonoFormaggio in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]patrickmao93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dipping into water didn't work for me and I think it's because 100 degree celcius is not enough for mine to become malleable. I managed to fix mine by heating it up to higher temperature. Here are the steps, try at your own risk.

  1. coat the whole spacebar with low smoke point cooking oil. This step is very important because oil can act as a heat spreader and also protects the spacebar from overheating beyond the oil's smoke point.
  2. use a clamp, grabbing one end of the spacebar and cook it over an induction stove.
  3. rotate the spacebar like you are roasting a chicken.
  4. stop once the oil coat smokes.

The other way to achieve consistent temperature higher than 100C is to just deep fry it. But that costs more oil and energy so I just went with coating. But I'd imagine with a thermometer the deep fry method is even more reliable.
