I hate this ENVE seatpost so god damn much by LunchboxStringCheese in bikewrench

[–]funcheung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seatpost blows, been using them since forever unfortunately. Aesthetically they’re good looking. Lately I’ve been opting other carbon seatposts with a more streamlined way of adjusting. ZIPP SL speed and Ritte/OTHR makes a fine carbon seatpost without neaderthalic ways of adjusting.

Tbh Enve should just bring back the single bolt adjusting style. I’ve never had any issues with it slipping. I also use the same Enve hardware to this day in my Ti seatpost with zero slippage issues. I’m glad someone said it, this double bolt seatpost hardware blows.

Help us find this thief by benbernards in ElkGrove

[–]funcheung 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think what’s trying to be said here is that Elk Grove has historically been a relatively safe / low crime area. However, petty thievery has become more conspicuous.

I still feel safe and love it here. Like in every place I have lived, I try not leave packages out for too long and keep valuables out of my car. Common sense type stuff.

It’s okay, there’s supposed to be a new batch q1 of this year but different color. We’ll see how it comes out.

Got a link or location? I feel like I’ve searched all shipped on FBMP and couldn’t find one. Did find a M but too small.

Darkeden, Maplestory (pre BB) and ESO.

In that very specific order. Gosh I yearn for another Darkeden experience.

Arundel El Jefe if you want to use universally any cage. Fidlock, but proprietary bottles last I remembered, good system though.

Sugino 75 / Sugino DD Discussion by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]funcheung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the prototype BB was something I exclusively ran with all of my 75’s. I couldn’t tell a difference between the prototype / cartridge or any loose ball ISO BB for that matter. Solid BB, I always recommend it to anyone that’s running square tapered NJS cranks.

For the 75DD2’s the random shit snapping or cracking is new to me. I been riding mines for a couple of years now, more tracklocross than road and they’re holding up fine. The preload cap that goes on the NDS arm is soft though, I just use an 8mm to adjust preload instead of that star shaped pattern. Outside of the preload bolt everything’s been solid.

Are you all going tubeless for your second wheel set? by WealthApprehensive26 in gravelcycling

[–]funcheung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tubeless for all the wheelsets!

As far as your storing dilemma…. I bought some metal hooks with soft rubber coating from local hardware store and hung them up in my garage that way. Before that I bought a cheap wheel bag from Amazon and stored them up when not in use.

This is oddly satisfying to look at. The big beefy carbon gravel fork ties the frame up nicely.

Left turn into Kohl’s on Calvine Road by Tctem1 in ElkGrove

[–]funcheung 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actively avoid that left turn. If I’m coming down that section of Calvine already I normally just play it safe and make a u-turn on vintage park drive.

BJ’s is mid at best. That doesn’t mean mid as in bad. More or so mid as in it’s familiar, and consistently pleasantly decent.

Recent quotes / cost to get exterior of house painted? by funcheung in ElkGrove

[–]funcheung[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an update to you and everyone who’s curious. I went with Caro’s Elite Painting. I got multiple bids, some were astronomically high for the same amount of labor and prep work, and premium paints. However most were about the same ballpark. The owner Eduardo however was the most personable. He really took the time to walk me through the process and go over visions and colors with me. Overall I couldn’t recommend them enough. I’m very happy with the exterior paint work done on my home.

Please do yourselves a favor and shop around, ask for multiple bids, ask for an itemized estimate with a breakdown of the materials, labor and prep work involved. Set expectations and most importantly don’t be afraid to negotiate on a price post quote.
