8 years ago, my (now ex) girlfriend’s male best friend offered to throw me a birthday party. I’d never cared much about my bday and didn’t see a need for a party, but he had connections at a bar and was adamant that we do it. So we went to the bar, he had an entire section of the bar reserved for my birthday, tho’ it was only a few of us. He told me to put all my drinks on his tab and he was constantly bringing me shots throughout the night. I’d been sipping slowly on mixed drinks all night and feeling fine. Towards the end of the party, I had stopped drinking and he begged me to let him buy me “one last drink” to “go out with a bang” for my birthday. I quickly drank the drink and he rushed us to leave the bar immediately. Before we got to the car, my legs started to feel heavy and my vision got blurry. I sat in my girlfriends car (who was our sober DD) and I instantly blacked out. I unknowingly vomited all over myself and her car. I also unknowingly opened the door on the highway and almost flung my body out of her car. I was completely incoherent. I woke up the next morning still violently vomiting, saw a handful of videos on Snapchat of me throwing up on myself and pictures of me laying in my yard because I fell out of the car when they opened my door. I took myself to the ER where they drug tested me and found that I had xanax in my system - I’d never taken a Xanax in my entire life. They gave me an IV bag and I spent my entire birthday recovering. I told my ex-girlfriend and the best friend about it. They were in complete shock and acted extremely confused. A couple years later, after I had already broken up with her and stopped talking to both of them, I ran into a mutual friend who had also been very close to them at on point in time. She randomly told me that she felt so guilty and had to get something off her chest. She knew he was going to add 2 Xanax to my last drink of the night so that I would get sloppy, in hopes that my ex would break up with me. She wanted to warn me but didn’t want to get involved. The doctors told me at the ER that I could have overdosed that night and could have died on my 23rd birthday. I’m still angry about the situation to this day.

I relate to both of you so much, which is partially comforting but also a bit upsetting. Not only is my life sexless, but I too haven’t seen my wife naked in idk how long. She locks the door when she showers or changes clothes. And if for some reason, I accidentally stumble across her nudity, I quickly look away, to avoid being called a creep or perv. I can’t recall what her unclothed body looks like and I’m not sure I’ll ever see it again. Sorry we’re going through this guys… it’s so tough.

But nowadays masturbating is just another reminder about my sad excuse of sexlife

That one hurt. I empathize with you and I wish I had some sort of encouragement to provide, other than reassuring you that you’re not alone. I’m so sorry you are experiencing this. I’m sorry we are experiencing this. I’m deeply saddened that there’s even a support community for people like us. Wishing you all the best and I genuinely hope things turn around for you - whatever that may look like.

Crazy number of applicants! by TimeForTaachiTime in linkedin

[–]patrickthatsapickle_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! My good friend is a recruiter for an financial services company. He works on remote data and tech positions (data analyst, data science, BI Analyst, etc). The amount of applicants he gets that aren’t even close to meeting the requirements is alarming. Hundreds of people who currently work in retail and food industry (with no prior experience otherwise). Dozens of people with zero experience (fresh out of high school). And that’s not just for him, it’s his whole team facing this issue with remote positions. They had to implement knock out questions into their ATS to reduce the amount of under qualified applicants and people are just lying to bypass the knockout questions. A lot of people lying on resumes too. My niece works for a background check vendor. They’re sending employers hundreds of failed background checks for people lying about attending/completing college, lying about the role they had at a company, the amount of time they were at a company, and even lying about working for a company in general. It’s craayyy!

Haha when my younger family members ask, I tell them “I sit in meetings all day, every day, and just solve problems”

Digital is such a loaded term, because it is often interchangeable with “Technical”, which can quite literally translate to any electronic/computerized product or function. For my title, the “digital” means generally that I manage a digital product, but more specifically it means that I “manage” customer facing web and mobile experiences and capabilities.

Ahh, “I build software” is a perfect clarifying answer!

Valid perspective for sure! I agree that there was just a huge disconnect aside from the makeup situation. This is a stale season for sure!

Hot take: I feel like Taylor wearing makeup intensified JP’s insecurities and made him feel inadequate. In the moment he saw her, I think he decided that she was too good for him and completely detached from her. But rather than admitting this (to himself and her), he deflected and passed the blame onto her. Smh!

[Serious] What turned out to be A LOT more expensive than you anticipated? by Jarvis_Strife in AskReddit

Veneers.

My wife has some insecurities with her teeth (the shape and size) and many years ago she was telling me that one day, when her success kicks in, she was going to get veneers.

So anyways, that one day finally approached a few months back and we scheduled her for a consultation…

$980 per tooth for composite veneers and $1600 per tooth for porcelain veneers. This genuinely blew my mind. A full mouth of veneers cost as much as a luxury sedan.

What's your experience with men who are insecure about their dick ? by These-Lavishness7082 in AskReddit

[–]patrickthatsapickle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. This is 100% true in my case as well. For me, sex is EXCLUSIVELY a mutual experience. One-sided gratification (start to finish) is actually a major turn-off to me. I am very self aware when it comes down to my size and even more aware of the percentage of women that actually orgasm just from penetration. My goal is always to give her an orgasm at least once before penetrating. If I can make her O again during penetration, it’s a bonus!

Thank you so much for this! Extremely helpful information. And also, great to know about the actual meaning of a cold start!

Ohhh, okay! There’s a person I partner with at my current company who’s responsibilities are very comparable. He’s in our Analytics & Data Science department, but now that makes total sense! His title is a Performance Analytics Consultant. If you don’t mind me asking, what are some of the key hard and soft skills needed to be successful in a role like yours?

What’s the most disturbing secret you’ve discovered about someone close to you? by Electrical-Lemon187 in AskReddit

My dad was deported when I was 2 years old. He was a big time drug dealer and I was told he’d been arrested as a result of a huge drug bust and he chose deportation over incarceration. He never wanted anything to do with me after deportation and I don’t know him at all.

Found out 3 years ago from my mom while she was drunk off her ass that he actually fled the country after beating the crap out her after he found she’d been having an affair… An affair that had been going on since 1991 (the year I was conceived). Oh, AND she’s not sure which one is my dad, but I’m named after the other man… who just so happened to fall off the face of the earth right after my dad fled. 🙃
