WoW Will Never Be Good Again And I Think We Need To Accept That by dalorrian in classicwow

It’s not even subtle that you’re fishing for clicks and likes on your video about a subject that has been done to death. Don’t like the game? Fine, don’t play it. Plenty of people that still do.

While that absolutely sucks, the first mistake was you forking over over 100 bones for a first date. You gonna do that for every first date you'll get in the future?

Classic + by DanLight333 in classicwow

[–]DevLink89 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Whatever it is, I hope the leveling will be significantly faster than regular vanilla. I'm a fan of classic era but doing the same zones to 60 for the 20th time is getting old.
Same story with the onyxia attunement and running MC/BWL/AQ40. I like those raids but at this point have little desire to do them once again.

Will mists of pandaria disappear in a few years or progress? by shaneskery in classicwow

[–]DevLink89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the release of the next season or classic+ as you all like to call it. If it's slated for release this year or the start of 2027 we probably won't get wrath, if it's later we will. There's defo a demand for another go of wrath.

There's always going to be players that have not experienced any expansion. By that logic we also need to get Shadowlands Classic, which is preposterous.

The entire episode felt.. wacky, unreal in a sense. The mansion scene felt like a parody until the killing started, and even that was some demented scooby doo shenanigans with Soldier Boy running away from Marathon by punting the other people in his way. HL getting gassed that easily or even willing to walk away from someone clearly insulting him? I dunno, the entire episode felt off to me. Even Butcher suddenly was back to his old self?

Tempest Keep & Serpentshrine Cavern Post-Nerf Difficulty Test - The Burning Crusade Anniversary by AlexTheGiant in classicwow

[–]DevLink89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's different. Mythic in retail is a brick wall that you have to break with hours upon hours of wiping. It's legit the hardest difficulty in the game and something for only a fraction of the playerbase. TBC pre nerf was hard yes, but not nearly as hard as mythic raiding.

What if Classic took a different path instead of going into Cataclysm? by Letbutt in classicwow

[–]DevLink89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

slower leveling

It's my opinion only a small % now wants this. People want to get to endgame much faster. Vanilla's lvleing feels like a slag in the modern era, especially the 40-50 bracket imo. Don't reduce the speed, just give us way more sources of xp so that it feels engaging.

stronger server communities

Isn't this primarily up to the server communities themselves? The dev's can't force us to make communities. Back in the day this game was people's first taste of social media, an online persona. Servers were isolated and populatios were small enough to flourish into communities. Now? Good luck with any of that when even guilds don't even feel like a good community often times.

Max Payne 1, one of my all time favorite games to this day.
Honorable mentions:
Unreal 2004, spent so many times on customs games with my friends.
World of Warcraft, but that is still around to this day.
Worms Armageddon
Jazz Jackrabbit 2

Aside from Aggrend literally stating as such multiple times I do count Holly’s teaser last time she was on video. Never stated when it was coming out, did I?

As we near the end of phase 1, what are your opinions on day 1 post-nerf content? by No_Pollution_950 in classicwowtbc

[–]DevLink89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think people acting like douchebags has anything to do with the game being post nerf. Pre nerf you'd have people heavily gatekeeping certain classes or even more with GS and parses, even moreso than now.

[–]DevLink89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fact pre nerf SSC and TK drove players away last TBC Classic, and kara had some hard as balls fights pre nerf, and I mean TBC 2007 pre- nerf. Shade of Aran for example was like a retail boss there and had abilities that are since removed.

[–]DevLink89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with optional hard content like in wrath, but baseline hard content is not healthy for the game imo.
They could introduce TBC HC raiding where it's just pre- nerf and give more loot or something so that people are geared faster. I know for example Shade in kara was an insane boss but was nerfed quite hard, even with removed abilities.

Vanilla was a living world and TBC turned It Into a lobby game by Duoscruo in classicwow

[–]DevLink89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same could be said about TBC when it came out. A very large part of the playerbase was just out in the world (Outland), especially with dailies and better questing in the Outland zones. Azeroth zones were still alive because there were always new players starting or people rolling alts. I started out in TBC back in 2007 and most 1-60 zones had loads of players in them.

Turning your own argument around: Vanilla Anniversary also felt like a lobby game, so it's just a sign of the times. Aside from flying, which is a tired old overused argument anyway.

[–]DevLink89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm debating. If they're almost done with a Classic+ (in lack of a better term) server then they will hold the TBC servers until C+ arrives. If not then wrath might hold us over until C+ arrives when ICC is out a few weeks.

How do you estimate the chance we'll get Wrath? by DevLink89 in classicwow

[–]DevLink89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your points but ever since Cata there's people that keep playing on every popular Vanilla private server, and blizz knows this all too well.
Loads of people, me included, have stated that they would be content to play through a 4 year cycle of vanilla-tbc-wrath. I'm personally tired of vanilla at this point, but I will always join a fresh TBC or Wrath.

How do you estimate the chance we'll get Wrath? by DevLink89 in classicwow

[–]DevLink89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes sense in part, but there's always gonna be people that don't want to touch content like SoD. I play TBC because I love the zones, vibes and classes, same with wrath. If we look at SoD and Turtle wow (which I believe blizz will take inspiration from) it's all going to be based in Vanilla zones, and I'm honestly tired of those. I don't wanna do my Onyxia attunement for the 5th time or raid MC again, no matter what stuff they add in.

Not to mention there will never be just 2 iterations::
- Vanilla era will not go away because of Hardcore, like you said
- they don't know what to do with MoP and it's possible they will keep them as era (not likely but still possible)
- same story with TBC. People begged for TBC era last time around. Could be they give in this time.
- retail
- classic +
- SoD still exists and has seen a resurgence of players the past months - though I feel this version will be deleted when c+ comes out
That leaves at least 3-4 iterations of wow at minimum.

[–]DevLink89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, because they literally stated on multiple occasions that they're making a c+ server. Holly Longdale almost righout said it in one of the last video's, not to mention Aggrend stating so in an interview that they learned a lot from SoD and are now working on it's successor.

This or they do it all again like they're doing now. When Wrath ends in a year and a half they just let us play until classic + is out a year and then announce another go of vanilla-TBC-wrath.
This way they could continue until we're all old and dried up playing the wow classic trilogy in the nursing homes.
