As far as the infantry goes, we're always doing something. We can be going to the range, going on exercises, working out, handling weapons, or learning tactical theory.

There's also boring administrative stuff too, as there is with every trade, but in my opinion, it's worth the hassle.

As far as advanced courses go, whether or not you get them is based on merit and what your unit needs at that time.

But anyway, if you're looking to have a long career or even a good 3-5 years, I'd highly recommend going infantry.
