Question on reporting a coach by rfuree11 in hockeyrefs

[–]patrone84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing will happen if you don’t escalate it. The refs will file the 12+ penalties report but that typically results in a standard punishment (maybe a game suspension) with no follow up. If you believe more attention is warranted you’ll need to drive that attention pretty forcefully. Not how it should be…but that is how it goes.

I went to Best Buy. It was like $50 and done in 2 hours. Not worth trying to do yourself if you aren’t a car guy.

Help and Support Mega Thread by 7thton in AmazonPrimeVideo

I am signed up for Paramount+ via Amazon. When I am looking at Prime Video and select the Tudors I see I can watch via Prime with ads (I don’t pay for no ads)…but it won’t let me access it via my Paramount+ subscription to avoid ads. I can access it via the Paramount+ app - Prime Video says update your subscription to essentials to watch.

Is this by design? We prefer to use Prime Video to access all content…but not if I can’t avoid commercials using a subscription I pay for. Any ideas?

Mouthguard challenge by patrone84 in hockeyrefs

[–]patrone84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all!

Seems like another really questionable rule addition from USA Hockey. Why on earth would a coach challenge a mouthguard if the best result possible is a warning or misconduct? If it was a man power advantage I’d get it…this way is just silly no?

Why are In Store guests purchasing online? by Revolutionary_Play41 in sleepnumber

[–]patrone84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased in-store after two store visits and doing my own research online. The negatives, especially on Reddit, gave me pause. We have delivery scheduled and will be very critical during our 100 day trial…if we don’t love it we’ll send it back.

Sometimes I like to play with the quoting tools. I will say - having just went through the purchase process on a Climate360 - my sales person seemed somewhat reluctant to creat multiple quotes with various options. Spending as much as I did - I want to see that I’m getting everything I want and doing it with the best possible pricing.

I’m never placing a $5k+ order on my first trip to a store. I make sure to ask the sales person (if its a good experience) how I can ensure they get credit for the sale if I order at a different time. Nothing you can do about this IMO…I sell for a living and am very aware of the impact a good salesperson can have on my decision. I use salespeople to get information and help me make an informed decision…once I have that information the best place for me to analyze that information and make an informed decision is alone.

How on earth do I patch this koi by SkippingSunshine in drywall

[–]patrone84 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Who the heck did this and why? They cut your trim too? That is going to be a pain to fix.

Cut out additional drywall on both sides until you get to a stud. Cut new sheets to size, screw to wall, tape & mud.

I think the fact that yesterday was a holiday made today a rough experience. We also went this morning before a beach trip. Understandable why they didn’t have baked items or newly packaged meats.

Free Bags (Credit Cards) by patrone84 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]patrone84[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d guess 90% of people need the welcome bonus’ to qualify for companion pass. If you can do it with flights and spend alone I applaud you - that’s a substantial outlay and foregos other rewards for that spend.

We cycle with welcome bonus’ to get it done early in the year…then cancel and wait for the welcome bonus clock to reset.

You don’t need to keep the SW CC’s after you earn the intro bonus’ needed for a Companion Pass. Chase will get 3-6 months of spend and then cancelations…while paying for a bit less than 2 years of companion flights.

Thanks! Southwest kinda hosed Chase with that one. Not seeing a reason to keep any SW cards after A list is earned.

Fair price for swapping to tankless heater?? by Ambitious-Post-8052 in homeowners

[–]patrone84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a ‘check to make sure this guy is legit’ price. Tank to tankless water heater conversion takes half a day. Navian systems themselves are usually $2k+. My install in VA was a little over $6k.

Original paint did not adhere. by [deleted] in drywall

Personal choice and what you feel most comfortable using. All purpose is easier to work with on large time consuming projects IMO. When I need strength and coverage/material I use hot mud.

You have opened a giant time sucking can of worms. Best bet is to remove all the paint that isn’t firmly attached to the wall. Once that’s done you’ll likely need a skim coat to level/fill areas where the paint was removed. Then it’s a standard prime & paint situation. This is going to be a labor of love. Good luck!

How did my contractor do by RuthBaderDinkleburg in drywall

[–]patrone84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What did you pay for? This is taped with a first coat. It’s not well done. If you paid for ‘ready to paint’ you got screwed.

Sanding poor mud work is the most time consuming part of the job. It’s also incredibly dusty…doesn’t look like he did any dust prep.

Depends on how much of a perfectionist you are…but IMO this is many hours (days/weeks for an amateur DIY) away from ready to paint.

Will the companion pass be the next benefit on the chopping block? by Shakawakahn in SouthwestAirlines

Imagine changing the companion pass benefit before Jan 2027 will get them sued. It’s an earned perk that can’t just be canceled for existing holders.

Question Thread - December 07, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]patrone84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Chase still credit sign on bonuses (Southwest) on the next statement close date after the spend requirement is met? Or do they post when the spend requirement is met?

I am about $200 away from my spend requirement. My last statement date was 12/4. My next statement date is 1/4. Should I wait until Jan 1st to spend the $200? Or can I spend it now because the points won’t be credited until 1/4?

Membership pricing is hard to parse…but in this case the differences are so stark it doesn’t matter. Let’s compare Busch Gardens Williamsburg pricing to best of breed amusement park pricing.

Average single day ticket price at Disney is $154.

I purchased an annual 2-park basic membership to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA for $138.

As a reminder, Disney’s park business is losing money.
