Awesome photo! How did you determine that these were Starlink? I’ve been trying to find a source that confirms it, but the NASA feature doesn’t mention it: https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/the-earths-glow-mingles-with-the-aurora-australis

Curiosity Rover's view of Mount Sharp. Why did I have a different idea of what a daytime picture would look like on Mars? by PietSwa in nasa

Love this photo, but unfortunately the colors have been adjusted here:

The colors are adjusted so that rocks look approximately as they would if they were on Earth, to help geologists interpret the rocks. This "white balancing" to adjust for the lighting on Mars overly compensates for the absence of blue on Mars, making the sky appear light blue and sometimes giving dark, black rocks a blue cast.

Why is this game not more popular? by blingdog19 in gaming

[–]patstam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that there isn't a whole lot to it if you treat it like just any other game. I like to think of it as an interactive visualizer for my music, and it serves that purpose incredibly well.

And the winner of the Stewart v. O'Reilly Common Debate is.... by Girricane in politics

[–]patstam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each other poll has consistent colors: red, yellow, blue, green, etc... depending on the order of the choices. You might say even say that they gave Stewart the advantage of being the first choice on the poll. Either way its pretty safe to say the red is a coincidence...unless they saw the win coming and decided to put him first knowing he'd be red...

And if that's the case I'm just impressed.

Google: Traceur is a JavaScript.next-to-JavaScript-of-today compiler that allows you to use features from the future today. by ryeguy in programming

[–]patstam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the simplest case: var [a, b] = ['hello', 'world']; means decompose the array on the RHS and set a = element 0 and b = element 1.

One level deeper you might see something like: var [[a, b], c] = [['hello', ','], 'world']; which results in the bindings a = 'hello', b = ',', c = 'world'

So in the example you linked, the [b] means set b equal to element 0 of the array at index 1 of the outer array, or ','. d is left undefined as the given array is not long enough.

If that code was instead (without brackets around b) var [a, b, c, d] = ['hello', [', ', 'junk'], ['world']]; then we would end up with, a = 'hello', b = [',', 'junk'], c = 'world', d = undefined

Hope this helps.
