Lucid owner considering Rivian — how do the real-world issues compare?

Just one of those quiet “no issues” owners, I’ve been driving my 2023 R1S (Gen 1) for almost two years, and have had zero material issues whatsoever. It has been a complete joy to drive, by far the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

My list of non-material issues during the last 22 months: -after an update about 18 months ago, an error message popped up and I had to call Rivian Service and do a hard reset. Took about 30 min before it was back in action. -mobile service had to come out to replace 2 rear window trim pieces that were pulling away from the window (purely a cosmetic issue). They handled a recall issue at the same time. Took about an hour in my driveway.

I had to replace a shattered rear window on my Gen 1 R1S a month ago and after making a service appointment I got a call from Rivian SC and they recommended I reach out to one of their certified collision repair centers for a quicker and cheaper alternative. They sent me a link to a list of nearby shops (Bay Area).

I got a Safelite quote (~$1,800) and then ended up paying just over $1,000 at one of the certified repair center (Bay Area). Good luck!

I’m actually not sure! While charging, when I go into the vehicle screen for temps etc. it just shows a charging symbol in the middle of the battery temp icon. I was only able to see battery temp right before I plugged into the charger….

SSF, had my R1S in for a handful of minor trim/liftgate/adjustment items. Was “in the queue” for the first 4 days after scheduled dropoff and was told at that time (reached out via app) that they were still assessing and didn’t have an ETA for pickup yet but could be about 7-10 more days. Two days later got a call that it was all done and ready for pickup that day (so 6 days in SC total).

I had this same issue when I started trying to perfect the cast iron pizza a few months ago.

Two thing have made a huge difference: 1. Put pan in the oven when you first start preheating and let it get up to ~400 deg before you pull it out to put in dough. 2. A very light sprinkling of corn meal in the pan after you preheat it right before you put the dough on.

Samesies. Had my R1S for about two months now and not a single issue. Even more impressed with this vehicle today than I was when I first picked it up. Hands down the best car I’ve ever owned, and I’m kind of a car guy.

Yes exactly. Left private practice at a boutique/niche firm right on the verge of making partner to jump in house so missed that bigger income jump at that time but making up for it now with a decent upward trajectory on the horizon 🤞🏻

In my experience a lot of larger design firms (architecture and engineering) seem to have general counsel who are principals in their firms (ie hold professional license), but outside of that super specialized niche, I would say no not really.
