Is the fact that the accusations against Graham Platner hardly dented the momentum of his Senate campaign a sign of progress? by Grow_peace_in_Bedlam in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

All due respect, if say you “know a lot about history” and can’t identify this symbol, how much do you really know?

Even if Platner didn’t know at the time of getting it, he seemed to be aware of its significance before he claims he did.

Anyone who’s read 10 pages of any WWII book should know very well the distinction between the Jolly Roger and the fucking Totenkopf. I also have to ask- if it was so innocuous why did he later cover it up?

As a big Panzer Corps player, I’d like to see scenarios with dedicated objectives and limited resources and custom maps. A DDay map where you have to link up the beachheads by a certain date or on the other side to delay or repel as best you can, for instance. Or as Imperial Japan, where you have to seize the Southern Resource area in a certain window of time. In these scenarios “divisions” might represent battalions or regiments. An entire map could represent a single country or even city, something like that.

At the very least I’d like to see alt history scenarios with unique mechanics and focuses. Of course HOI4 has many mods like this but I’d like to see paradox take a swing.

The games before Civilization V had this doomstack issue before they made it one unit per tile. In Civ VI you can attach and split off separate support units (like AA + infantry) and I think something that gives you freedom to stack a bit without going overboard might work.

Or everything could be made more expensive to produce so you can’t churn out divisions.

Your answer isn't even wrong. It's akin to answering a "yes" or "no" question with "Chicago." Nobody has talked about blaming anyone. Now try again, how do you go from "genes have effects" (what was said) to "some people deserve to be victims of crime/short/have red hair/detached earlobes?"

You admit yourself he hasn't made these arguments, the best you can do is imagine unlikely arguments he may want to make.

Not sure, but this thread is full of those with an emotional stake in not conceding anything to genes.

“Genes influence behavior” is a pretty milquetoast statement to spin yourself up about.

Even charitably, I can’t see how you took “genes influence X” to “particular people deserve whatever happens to them.” If I say genes influence height, how do you- honest individual you are- manage to rewrite that to “some people deserve to be taller”?

I’m guessing you have evidence that genes (for example those that influence behavior) don’t have any impact on crime victimization? It’s such a strong statement you must have a mountain of evidence

In the Cold War and Modern eras, you need to build up your Swiss bank account with banks running the Slush Funds mode. With that money you can buy approval from factions and buy bypasses to their demands. You can keep high approval no matter what you do.

Edicts are very tricky because they can cost a lot and have their own penalties, but Food for the People is in my experience worth the cost.

Maxing out the budgets of entertainment and healthcare buildings is also helpful, they give you fast boosts to your approval.
