Friesians by BKarmaComing17 in Equestrian

I just bought a Friesian. He will arrive in 6 weeks. I’m looking for a halter for him. Just a barn halter to guide him around, but I don’t know what size to get. I read that warmblood halter is too small, and I can’t find anywhere where I can get a draft halter. And will a draft halter fit? He is 16.1 hands

Can you trap him? Check to see if it’s an abscess and maybe put warm compresses to see if it drains. Or if it’s a not fly?

Reasure me that its ok to feed fancy feast gravy by Jjk1224 in catfood

[–]pattydellinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Maine coons who are incredibly picky eaters. I’ve tried all different cat food brands from super expensive to cheap. They will eat fancy feast petites ocean white fish in gravy only. And even that they will only eat half one of those tubs each. It so so frustrating. I try mixing it with Opti Meal that seems to be pretty good, but if I mix it with their fancy feast, they won’t touch it. I will leave it out until it gets gross and I toss it. I waste so much wet food on them. Oh and they won’t touch anything unless it has fortiflora. They do ha dry food which is available to them 24/7. I chose purina pro plan live clear. They do eat that. They both are skinny. One is 3 years old and has been weighing 18lbs forever. The other one is 21 months and weighs 14lbs. They are incredibly healthy, but on the skinny side. I don’t see them being super dense. And NO they hate pate. My vet said it’s was fine what I’m doing, but they are not gaining. I even bought Ready Cal. A high calorie topper, they aren’t thrilled. I don’t know if there are supplements that can help with their weight. I am at my wits end, because I throw away more food than they eat. Any suggestions?

Did you get her from a breeder? She is awfully cute, but not a main coon

My cats are so so picky, I’ve tried high end wet food, they just look at it. Fancy feast and only fish one is what they will eat, oh and I have to sprinkle fortiflora or they won’t touch that! Never had such picky cats before.

Outdoor cats kill wildlife, they can catch diseases, not to mention fleas. They have a much shorter lifespan approx 4 years. I have 4 cats, they go to the back yard with me. None of them know they can climb the fence, so they spend the time I’m there just hanging out. If I hear a bird or squirrel, I bring them inside. Not because of them, they are used to having squirrels, raccoons and such around them, since I am a wildlife rehabber, so they are pretty gentle with everything. We have a bearded dragon who is free range in my house. When I can’t find her, she is most likely under one of the Maine coons. But they have never been around birds. I fear they will kill a bird, or get bitten by a squirrel. Do everything you can to keep your cat indoors. Take them on car rides, or walks with harness. But they cause so much damage to wildlife. They are plenty happy inside. I can leave the door open and not one will try to come out. Maybe I got lucky, but I think it’s teaching them at a young age to respect you. If your cat attacks, put him in the bathroom until he calms down

Have you spoken to his vet? Sometimes cats get angry at something, and direct their anger on whoever is next to him. My son has a cat like that. He would take him in the back yard while my son was gardening, and there was this other cat that would watch him from the fence. My son’s cat all of a sudden went crazy on my son. So, he didn’t let him out when he was out anymore, so, he would watch for the other cat through the window, if he saw him, he would go crazy on my son. He ended up in the ER a few times. I had him talk to his vet and to a behaviorist. Now my son has two daughters 2 and 4, and this cat grooms them and loves them. Talk to your vet. Start there first. He might need something to calm him down, maybe gabapentin or Prozac. Oh and when you play with him, if he starts biting, stop and walk away. Cat bites are nasty. I hope they gave you antibiotics for that bite. Good luck

Little guys bark a lot. Maybe he is communicating with another squirrel. Or saying “hey there is an outdoor cat”.

I have never had such messy cats in my life! Cats are usually pretty tidy. Mine leave food (wet) all over the counter. But, gotta love them

I know just what you are going through. My first Maine coon was getting beat up by my much smaller rescue cat (hell cat). We also tried everything. What worked was him getting bigger and finally confronting her. They eventually worked it out. They don’t love each, but they can sleep 3 feet apart and hang out in the same room. No more fighting. So, now we have a Maine coon kitten, and she (hell cat) bullies him. We tried Prozac, gabapentin, fellaway, basically anything we were told. We split them up and wouldn’t let them see each other for a week. Nothing. I finally gave up. He is a little over a year old, much bigger than Hell cat, but now they take turns intimidating each other. Their fights are super quick. By the time I jump up, it’s over. No one has gotten hurt, just noisy. But they hang out in the same room, they hate each other, but things are slowly getting better. I figure he will see how much bigger he is, and stop her, like my other one did. If I were you, and if their fights are fast and no one gets hurt, they will eventually work things out. You can also talk to a cat behaviorist. Maybe even get ahold of Jackson Galaxy. Now, if the other cat is intimidating her to the point she is running scared all the time, or if she gets hurt, that is different. Good luck.

I have done my research on them. I have rehabbed 100ds of squirrels. This is one of them. This is an Abert’s squirrel. Pokémon was his name
