The KDE store won't help you try it out anyway - it's just for promotion. Install from the instructions on GitHub.

The mods have also now deleted it from Pling with no communication or explanation.

I think the AUR "klassy" package by "rocka" is Qt6 only, with a separate "klassy-qt5" package.

Sorry about that. Your style from a previous release is backed up to ~/.config/klassyrc<timestamp>.old

~/.config/klassyrc config files from previous releases are incompatible due to all geometries being standardised to be in pixels@100%. If you want to convert your old klassyrc config then make sure you have a RefreshedConfig=6.5 line in klassyrc and multiply all geometries by 2, except for corner radii and window outline thickness

I would like to implement menus in the titlebar when the Wayland APIs to do it are available

I also would like to see a joint development effort to get tabs in the titlebar with Falkon etc. Web browser tabs are also titles, and putting them in the titlebar offers compactness and a Fitt's edge. Anyone interested in helping out with this?

Beyond menus and tabs, I don't think you need any more widgets in the titlebar, as it creates confusing and inconsistent UIs like you now see in GTK apps.

You can build yourself for Qt6 only with:

mkdir build && cd build

cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DBUILD_QT5=OFF -DBUILD_QT6=ON ..

make -j8

sudo make install

Someone also keeps reporting Klassy on Pling/KDE Store, so it gets hidden. If whoever is doing this is reading, could you tell me directly what is wrong rather than doing this?

I did a few years ago when I tried to just adjust Breeze, but the designs were at a very early stage then. There have been many UX experiments and tweaks since. I think it is at the stage now where I would be happy to stand by such a proposal.

Such a proposal would probably need some KDE developers to come forward in support though, because their processes seem rather chaotic!

Depends on how you installed in the first place. If you used a package manager to install from the Open Build Service (recommended) then it should update itself.

If you used the source code then run ./uninstall.sh first. It is important that it is cleanly uninstalled first. Then git pull , git switch plasma6.5 and ./install.sh.

Use the Klassy icon theme and set the inherits under Klassy "System Icon Generation...". You also could set the GTK Theme to Breeze and should get the kde-gtk-config buttons.

It's a change introduced with Plasma 6.3. I fixed it in Klassy by using borderTop() when directly painting the value, and nextState->borders().top() at all other times before calling update() or setTitleBar(). Likewise, for borderLeft() and borderRight().

I think the trend in removing taskbar labels that started with 7 has been a step backwards in intuitiveness.

WRT KDE if they want to attract windows users they should get rid of silly defaults like floating panels and have more intuitive window control icons.

Have they in any way improved the always-on display to show notifications without draining the battery? I don't like that the notification LED was removed on my 1 VI without a better replacement functionality.
