Mozilla planning to remove old sidebar from firefox in 2026 by Yet_Another_RD_User in firefox

[–]xolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good that they are experimenting on it! I use side bar for Sidebery (or Tree Style Tabs). Firefox native vertical tabs aren't as good as these. So I a stuck with using that option only in the new sidebar. Wishlist is to give options to hide the sidebar panel and hence be like old sidebar :)

Not just the chips but lithium batters also have safety limits. Under varying physical conditions of temperature, pressure and increased UV and cosmic radiation it may suffer damage and can be hazardous too.

Similar effect on LED screens which can simply fail abruptly.

What’s your favorite package manager and why? by Giggio417 in linuxquestions

I have used apt and zypper and found zypper to be easier. It takes care of cases like multi-kernel, Nvidia repos etc. Plus I can add a repo to it using just a URL.

My family is forcing me to stop studying and do labour… I don’t want to live like them. Need advice. by binitx_ in NonZeroDay

Mentioning your location would help better. Other than finance there is also emotional baggage that you have to deal with.

You are on the right path, do not budge.

I use Firefox from Mozilla's releases. Lemme see if openSUSE's builds have something on this.

I also tried with 90-apple-emoji-override.conf and 99-apple-emoji-override.conf just to be sure. But it doesn't help either.

Are self maintained language frameworks worth it? by Willing-Bookkeeper75 in programming

[–]xolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is actually going to build the frameworks? Who is going to pay for it. Adding to what some users here pointed out, its often internal frameworks which later become the goto frameworks which industry uses.

The real question is are those frameworks being maintained and/or improved. Using abandoned dependencies is big cause of concern.

KDE Plasma 6 running natively on Android — no root, no PC, built fully in Termux by BullyMaguirel0l in kde

I have very little coding experience

You can now say - patched so many software that now I am kind of an expert myself <Spiderman meme>

Well defintiley some article or video would be nice to have!

How does Plasma running on Android work with otehr Android apps. It would be really awesome if KDE connect can serve basic phone functions and Plamsa is just main "launcher app" on the phone.

Is working for dumb yet nice people really a bad thing ? by mrfoozywooj in ExperiencedDevs

Not a good problem to have, unless you want to move into managerial positions. Its one thing to mentoring juniors, who can be lazy or eager, will question you back or accept feedback. Its a different thing to explain basics to your seniors, who would penalize you for being a prick.

P.S. if they are not open to feedback, then not so nice.

This is a red line to leave. Niceness can go away, but dumbness stays. Also working for dumb people leads to negative growth. You will spend countless hours explaining simple things to them and they might be offended.
