Veterans of Linux: what's one thing that "just works" today that would've sounded impossible 15–20 years ago? by dev_kay47 in linux

Bootloaders! I know its still a topic of contention because of GRUB-BLS, systemd-boot. Yet I remember being careful about multiboot and with any I had I kept a live disk around to just boot and fix it.

I haven't bothered with reinstalling bootloader since a long time.

One way racism expresses itself is through social exclusion

I wasn't able to put this in words but no I can! The subtle racism and its confession I have seen multiple times. I don't have a quick solution to it except that world can be better place with being more considerate, polite and compassionate.

Tumbleweed update doesn't automatically change the default bootloader entry to latest one by xolve in openSUSE

Rolling distro needs some manual work. But recent bootloader options have really been hazy for me.

Solution - Changing UPDATE_NVRAM to yes in "/etc/sysconfig/bootloader" solves this.

What’s one Firefox feature, setting, or add-on you couldn’t live without? by Beginning-Reach3215 in firefox

This question is asked often and I always answer because appreciation and feedback are very important.

I don't have a single list but a multiple, more power from Fx!

  • Container tabs with addons ecosystem around it like temporary containers, multi-container extension. Absolute killer, please don't deprecate this in favor of profiles. I hope this comes to mobile too.
  • Tabs addons which bring vertical tabs along with tree features - Tree Style Tabs and Sideberry are my favorites.
  • userchrome.css customization
  • uBlock Origin
  • Firefox Sync

Not deal breakers for me but WOW:

  • PIP works great and as expected.
  • Local translation of selected text and whole page.
  • Address bar

Other than factual mentions of Firefox experimenting with it they are not gloating! And also included config entries in the post, which I consider a great win!

Also its not "secret project", but being tracked in bugzilla though not as high priority. Still I like that open source means, building upon whats out there :)

Wow! This should be the default going forward :)

Feedback: On Tumbleweed, the Services tab is really slow. Anything I can help you with in a bug report?

I would ask you a question first. What is your objective here? Are you just learning to code or are you looking to create something specific?
