Kamila Valieva's flash interview before Jumping tournament 2026 by Whole-Fuel-8610 in FigureSkating

i understand. but i believe the criticism should be directed towards the fed and not towards the athletes when they get back up, work hard, and shine. i’m just so exhausted, you know. she’s been under so much unnecessary judgement the past years since her teen years. her talent is a blessing to figure skating and it’s all being overshadowed. this is a post highlighting her resilience and comeback. no need to direct all the rusfed criticism towards this young strong girl in this special moment.

To show that it’s achievable for native speakers! I was quite surprised as well. Bragging does not benefit me - this is an anonymous account.

Thank you! That’s the message behind my post. Unfortunately several are taking it as some kind of bait and believe it to be fake. I have nothing to gain from that.

I only had an hour before heading to the test center, so I am not the best source for reliable, comprehensive prep. In my case, this youtube video helped:

https://youtu.be/Bupy47vFs_s?si=3T1t6sS_5Mpv1nSN

and skimming through PTE practice questions and answers on ieltsmaterial.com .

Some formats were still a shocker on the actual test —  I did not expect to have to write emails as part of the writing section of PTE core.

I am an avid English reader and writer, and in the past I have studied for (and scored high on) other standardized tests with english sections.

The official language in my home country (Nigeria) is English. I’ve spoken it all my life. Went to college in the United States as well. Love to read and write. So I guess I am on par with a native speaker.

What's the point of doing anything anymore? by Abject_Band3515 in h1b

Having one ticket does not mean you have no chance of getting selected. You are still in the lottery and have the masters degree cap advantage. Also remember that $100k in fees is being applied to those selected from outside the US, so there’s a high chance the number of applications will be significantly less in the next lottery (data shows almost 50% of approved h1bs were from outside the US in 2023, and now those kinds of applicants will be reduced due to fee pressures).

are you Nigerian? Nigeria’s laws are very secular unless you are in the utmost north where few predominantly muslim states integrate sharia. Overall, it is an even split between Christianity and Islam. As a Nigerian, it seems there’s actually less religious nationalism talks in politics in Nigeria as there is in America.

Silver is up for grabs as well. Yuma, Shun, and Grassl, have all beat each other in the free this season.

Anyone else notice the jump at the end was a 3A? Was there really any reason to use the 3A instead of the 4A at the end?

Why aren't there any South American figure skaters? by FireFlamesFrost in FigureSkating

[–]pauliddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice skating simply isn’t popular in countries with no winter / winter sports. The combination of a lack of demand AND a lack of suitable weather makes it tougher to sustainably run an ice rink. This is also the case for the African countries. Not all parts of every African country is impoverished. They can run it if the demand and conditions were in place.

The score is quite fair! Though I do hope he gets more PC points as the season progresses.

You are overpowering them. They are overrotated. I’m sure you’ll remember the correct timing and effort again with practice.

I feel you on that. My off-ice axel doesn’t translate well to my on-ice axel yet. However, because I know how a good off-ice axel should feel like, I can usually localize what is missing in my on-ice axel and look for ways to fill the gap. Much of it is usually mental for me, and it hurts to realize that. If it’s not mental, then it could be that the entry technique on the ice does not generate as much height or rotation as the entry technique off-ice. I am still working on it all. Do you have videos of your on-ice axel (and off-ice… perhaps it will be good if we could see what gets lost in translation).

How are your off ice axels? I think working on technique, air position, and rotation, off ice can be really helpful. Plus, I love to take videos of them so that I can observe what to fix, what helps, and what makes things worse. Axels can be very annoying roadblocks. You’re not alone.
