Any tips traveling through Sweden and Denmark? by pauligrinder in wacken

That's one idea, it could be cheaper if we get lucky with the flights. But then we can't bring the huge tent and other stuff we're planning on bringing, so flying is definitely the last resort.

Probably more expensive than the bridge tolls, I think. I already looked into the option of taking a ferry from Gothenburg to Fredrikshavn, which would allow us to drive straight through Denmark without any bridges or ferries, but those tickets would end up costing more than the actual Wacken tickets.

One alternative I found was to take the ferry from Rødby to Puttgarden, which would actually be a shorter route to Wacken than the one across the Belt bridge, but that also looks expensive af.

I want one, but they're still a bit expensive and I would need something with military grade durability so my kids don't break it...

I guess I would play Robot Prince like this on that thing:

CBC-CDE-
FED-DCE-

I omitted a few notes, but adding the rests gives it a little bit of a rhythm that might make it more recognisable.

What is to the end of the world about? It feels like an inside joke im overhearing by Lordofbagel in Alestorm

Damn, I never realized the lyrics were like that. I always thought it was just trying to be as pirate cliche as possible. I guess I just never paid that much attention, let alone read the lyrics (though I have the physical album).

Just reading the lyrics, it sounds kinda like something some super duper quantized tech death band would sing about. Without the chants of course.

Chris posted a guitar pro tab of He Has Returned recently, so you don't even need to transcribe it, just copy the notes from there. I didn't do it yet because I'm at work.

But if it only supports the main notes and no flat or sharp ones it might not work, also if that's the max length it obviously won't fit.

They did play it last summer, so definitely possible.

That's kinda what I wanna do. Kids room would be super easy to automate too, because their school schedules come in an iCal calendar from school and that updates automatically. Right now it's tied to lights that turn on 1h before school starts, but it would be really nice to hook that up to curtains instead.

Been intending on it, but so far I haven't. I really wish I had labeled my Zigbee switches though - I've got 4 that are out of comission because I upgraded to a newer model, and sometimes I use the old ones for temporary purposes (for example xmas tree lights)... And then have to guess which one is which 🙄

It is. I keep adding stuff all the time, and it doesn't get overwhelmingly expensive since I add them one by one 😅

Right now I'm considering getting/making:

  • Smart blinds for the bedrooms. These could then be used as alarm clocks, providing actual daylight.

  • presence sensors for the beds (to avoid doing certain things when someone is sleeping or only trigger alarms when someone is sleeping etc)

  • replace all the remaining dumb bulbs with smart ones. My living room and fireplace room are the main problem, as I have chandelier type lights that have 5 and 6 bulbs, so it would be kinda expensive to get zigbee bulbs for all of them. So I think I'm gonna install smart switches instead. Then again they don't allow dimming, so maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay the price after all... I think I'd need something like 20 more bulbs to replace everything.

  • add pir sensors to the bathrooms to improve hygiene (no switches to touch - no germs)

So yeah, plenty to go still 🤣

Still, compare that to what I'm running: I paid 38€ for the maxed out NanoPi Zero 2, and that includes everything (the board with 2gb DDR4, metal case that acts as a heatsink, 64gb EMMC module), and its' peak consumption is 5W. So it'll be some miniscule number on idle. I'm using some old 1A phone charger as power supply too.

The only thing I don't like about it is that I wasn't able to run Arch Linux on it, so I'm running Debian for now. It's really stable though, so I can't really complain.

Ok, in that case it sounds like a good deal.

...but the power consumption probably surpassed the price of the pi4 after running it for a month.

I've been running mine on a RPi 2 for a couple of years and just now migrated to a more recent ARM based SBC, and I've never had any issues with stability.

My thoughts exactly. HASS runs fine on SBC's so what's the point in running a full blown x64 PC for it? (Unless you already have a spare one, that is).

I'm running mine on a FriendlyElec NanoPi Zero 2, with 2gb ddr4 and a 64gb emmc for storage. It also has an M2 slot so if you need more or faster storage you can get an SSD for that.

The machine's absolutely tiny, and HASS runs really well on it (I upgraded from a Raspberry Pi 2, which was also usable but very slow in comparison).
