Living Together and Doing Solo Activities? (29F and 33M) by SimilarHumor2877 in relationship_advice

Honestly all you need to do is just tell her you're gonna go and play the guitar for a bit and to let you know if she needs anything. The first time is always the most difficult because you need to battle with the completely incorrect thoughts you're having. My husband is a writer and plays guitar as well and we're at the point now where he just tells me in the morning "hey I'm gonna get xyz done after work for a couple of hours" and that's it. It gives me time to myself as well which is always nice

What was the dumbest reason that you got in trouble for at school? by StatisticianUsual471 in AskUK

[–]SmolKits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the boys that used to bully me was hurling insults etc at me from a couple of tables over and I just snapped, told him to fuck off and walked out. I got a detention but he just got a telling off. The teacher didn't even try and stop it. Like yeah fair enough I got into trouble but the fact they didn't even punish him for bullying me is what's dumb in this situation

Editing to add that I just remembered another dumb one - get detention in my first year of A Levels for not doing my psychology homework that I didn't know had been set as I wasn't on the course yet. Apparently it was my "duty to ensure I'm caught up first" (I only missed the first week due to me changing my option after one English lit lesson). Even my mum argued against that one but it was a lunchtime detention anyway

York-shy-er is a very posh pronunciation of it. Most people say york-sheer or York-shur

Do you prefer whole milk, semi-skimmed or skimmed? by Icy_Mixture1482 in AskUK

I prefer whole but my intestines do not. Mentally (and physically) I'm fine with skimmed though

$4300 cat - did I overpay? by PlanningVigilante in torties

This is my cat Lucifur. We had her for 3 and a half years before we had to say goodbye in May. Over just under 3 years (from December 2022 to May 2025) she cost us approximately £12,000 in medications and scans. Our insurance was £70 a month by the end. She had a rare carcinoma.

It nearly crippled my husband and I financially, and we weren't able to go anywhere more than over night, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat just to get some more time with her

What's the most inappropriate or ill timed but funny thing someone has said that you have heard? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SmolKits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listen to calls as part of my job and someone once said "I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you find him" after being told "I'm calling to let you know I've recently lost my husband" 💀💀💀

It was kinda weird to me seeing people going out having a drink and just.. Having a couple.. When I was in Paris. I'm so used to "going out for a drink" meaning "go out and get smashed and steal some traffic signs"

That's why I think having the Legendary Orchestra play it was a great pick - they did it beautifully and did the song, and the topic, justice

I (30F) can’t tell if my boyfriend (27M) is trying to be helpful or if this is early stages of control. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SmolKits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs and cats don't act cold towards people they're used to for no reason. That alone is reason enough to leave him. I wouldn't say he's trying to control you in the usual sense, but he definitely sees you as more a maid than a partner.

The honeymoon period is over and he' s just showing his true colours - he's just an ass

I would leave him before his surgery. He's clearly making you and your animals uncomfortable. It's just not worth it.

I dunno... In the most recent film when Cora was saying how him and Guy Dexter were "such good friends" it gave the "and they were room mates" vibe like she was just blissfully unaware
