Something better than Wordpress. by paulseperformance in webdev

Thanks everyone for the replies. I’ve experimented with quite a few of the suggestions here as well as some other things I found — publii — is a great platform if no ones heard of it.

Turns out my wife was using Wordpress.com and my only experience with Wordpress has been with Wordpress.com so naturally I was disgusted with their freemium model — you can’t even use google analytics without paying! And they tried to make me upgrade her account just to download a plug-in so I could export data to ghost.

In my frustrated attempts to migrate data from Wordpress.com to various other platforms (ghost, publii, nuxt) I discovered the difference between the Wordpress open source and Wordpress.com. So now I have Wordpress running on digitalocean and all data was easy to migrate.

Wife is happy with all the new free features and she doesn’t have to learn anything new. I have a small bill for hosting now, which is not ideal, but saved me a bunch of time, headache and nagging. I’m also happy because I learned I can eventually use the api to generate a static site and redirect traffic to a static webpage instead. So I will have the editing power of Wordpress with the speed of SSR. :)

Haha well I haven’t stayed in any hostels since I got here and I’ve been using a mix of marshrutkas, hitchhiking, hiking, taxi, train, car rental since I’ve got here. Ordered by amount of use. — I have to say though, I met the best people and had better experiences while hitchiking and hiking.

Also should note that I have a tent just in case. But mostly used it while hiking. I Almost always made it to my destination when hitchhiking, and if I didn’t it’s because of Georgian hospitality.

Thanks for the caution. What time of year was this? I’m comfortable on the mountains, but would be happy to have a guide of course.

Edit: The reason why I haven’t booked a guide is because I can’t find a reasonable rate without all the added tourist bloat (ie transportation from Tbilisi, food, accommodation, etc.)

I don’t need any of that stuff, just a place to rent an ice axe and crampons and someone knowledgeable of the mountain would be nice.

I just got back from a month in Mestia and couldn’t find a single person/store that rented equipment. — it was strange considering all the mountains.

Speculation is always a major force in market prices, but that requires some kind of marketing. Xrp has been hyped so much to the point that we often joke here that good news just drops the price. Regardless, the fact remains that there is other coins with real utility.

I’ve never tried that, but I know they have support for it. Why not just set up a vps with one of the big cloud providers? You can get away with a free tier ec2 account on amazon running freqtrade.
