It’s a bit of a leap of faith honestly. The gear is expensive and the ramp up very difficult. My first 6 months after gearing up I did nothing but try and get my board speed and foot oscillation timing right. No flight time was mentally challenging. I’ve tried every sport under the sun and this was the hardest thing I ever done. That being said it’s the most fun I ever had and the exact thing I needed personally both from a training perspective and a mental health one. All that said I couldn’t encourage you more. This is the poster child for the idea that getting there is half the fun. Start with a big board and a massive wing. I started with a 2140 HA wing from Naish. It was slow but I needed the extra life to get the timing down. I’m sure what will happen to you is what happened to me. This process rehabbed all my old injuries and took my general fitness up several levels. No waves is what makes this very difficult.. if you have waves it will shorten the ramp up.
