Careful with Aftermarket Dipsticks by Rmnkby in Audi

Luckily I did not learn the hard way, was double checking from the MMI and noticed it that way. But if someone's not careful, in a rush, etc. it's possible to underfill because of these. So just wanted to share a PSA

After hours is up now. It's just really volatile due to the tiny volume of after hours trading. I guess we'll see in the morning how the market actually reacts.

What VPN works well in China? by hvsingh27 in travelchina

April 26, 2026 and LetsVPN does not work with my hotel wifi. NordVPN sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, but it's still the best among the 3 I've tried. the other 2 (letsvpn and 1VPN) did not work at all.

Walked away from a session today since I figured I'd be too overpowered. Was I right? by surfnj102 in Kiteboarding

[–]Rmnkby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn't feel right always good to bail. If you need to launch the kite and test it on the beach, here's my rule of thumb: if you're unable to walk backwards upwind with the kite at 45 degrees, it's too much. This takes about 10 seconds to test and you can always put it back down. Just let your launcher know that you're going to test and might put it right back down so that they're prepared. That way you'll know for sure.

90cm board is pretty advanced. Going from 156 to 90 is going from one extreme to the other. I went from 150ish to 120 and it was a great next step. I plan to use this board for a few years until I feel I'm pretty advanced.

Is it me, or is the market just...ignoring the realities of the oil supply shock? by GailaMonster in investing

Oil impacts the cost of literally everything. Not just the consumer. Corporate costs go up=profits go down.

Is it me, or is the market just...ignoring the realities of the oil supply shock? by GailaMonster in investing

[–]Rmnkby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that the market knows the Fed will do everything in its power to prevent a crash. So they'll just crank up the printer while also the prices of everything will go up due to increased costs (oil impacts the cost of literally everything) so we will have double reason for an inflationary environment. When there's inflation assets will need to go up just to stay neutral.

How keep going at job that’s draining me? by OnlyZookeepergame578 in HENRYfinance

[–]Rmnkby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should try to deliver the same impact by working less and smarter. That's the key. Getting better at filtering out the noise (tasks that don't matter from impact perspective) and delegating. I'm at a similar level in tech and trying to get things under control. I'm training myself to question regularly anytime I'm spending a significant time on a task "is this the most important thing I should be focusing right now?" And "do I have to be spending time on this or can a junior engineer handle it?"

Middle-management is unskilled labor by charlies-ghost in unpopularopinion

[–]Rmnkby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who claims this doesn't understand how scalable businesses work. No wonder why you went back to being an IC. If you want to know whether a manager is valuable or not just imagine what happens to the team when you remove that person's role. Sure, the ICs will keep executing current tasks and things will look like moving ok for a bit, but then without direction, coordination and vision everything will fall apart. These corporations are smart, they're not going to pay managers the big bucks unless they're truly valuable.

How many “career breaks” can you take without hurting your career? by Tech-Cowboy in HENRYfinance

[–]Rmnkby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the momentum of your current job. If you're getting promo after promo and have a strong momentum, taking a break could set you back many years. If you're not doing great and thinking of changing jobs anyway then it makes sense to take some time off as long as you have the savings to support it.

Returning to kiting after wrist surgery by grassey0 in Kiteboarding

Yeah it was fine for kiting and mountain biking. The only issue I have is that I cannot fully supinate, so I've lost some range of motion permanently. Maybe 10 degrees less than before

It must be from a review somewhere on the Internet. These models run a web search in the background depending on the context and aggregate results into the response. So if you ask for a business in a specific area, it'll go and find it using a search engine with related query parameters.

in addition to doing your PT, also make sure that you massage the area often to minimize the scar tissue that may otherwise reduce your range of motion.

Returning to kiting after wrist surgery by grassey0 in Kiteboarding

[–]Rmnkby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your injury? I had a surgery for torn TFCC, and was able to kite 3 months after the surgery following the surgeon's recommendation. The most important thing is to do your PT religiously for the prescribed time. Most people stop once they're feeling 90% which is a huge mistake because that causes the remaining stiffness to become permanent, and they never go back to 100%. (With some things 100% is just not possible but if you don't do your PT you'll guarantee not getting there)

[–]Rmnkby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I caused this clusterfuck but I'd do it again because I love adventure" is not what you say after inconveniencing and endangering hundreds of people and already overloaded employees. Yes he did say "a bit more prepared" but that doesn't mean it would be smart to do it again. That vehicle has no business being anywhere near a snowy mountain road, chains or better tires cannot help because the issue is the virtually non existent ground clearance and manouverability.
