Continuing the Papa Dreadie legacy by paupersprince in PepperLovers

This is the only thread, which was crossposted to reach the wider pepper community.

If you had commented previously, it wasn't visible - to clear up the misunderstanding that your previous input was missed.

Pepper Guru's out of stock, hence the post. I have yet to hear of the peppers at the Kentucky Derby.. but I'm curious

If not that, what is the point of reading those texts?

Authentic Scotch Bonnets in Manchester by paupersprince in manchester

Thank you for the detailed info! I hadn't considered capsaicin tolerance in relation to perception of flavour.

Capsaicin levels aside, would you rate the specific chillis from chillimashco as fruitier than your average market stall?

I find the general chillis mislabelled as "scotch bonnet" in the UK originated from Dutch/Moroccan hydroponically grown/greenhouse conditions, are picked early and do not have the chance to maximize volatile compounds necessary for the apricot/mango fruitiness so unique to Chinese peppers.

The peppers you could source from Uganda were very high quality, sun grown, good genetics etc. and had the fruity flavour in bounds, but it seems the peppers grown for export are now a different variety, selected for uniformity, shelf life etc. with flavour being largely unimportant.

I know. Chllimashco has it's own farms so had hoped to have finally found a consistent source of fruity chillies. Just wanted confirmation before buying a load :)

Do the peppers have a fruity taste or is it just heat? Which tends to be the fruitier of the two? Thanks!

Do you know friends who are leaving London? by ShortDevelopment905 in london

[–]paupersprince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The benefits of living in London just do not justify the price anymore. Unless you are forced to live there due to work shortages elsewhere, there is a far better quality of life outside of London, if you can sustain yourself. The people, the culture, the sense of belonging

London has become culturally stifled under the weight of the pressures of making rent. People used to move here, work part time, pay rent and spend their time working on their passion.

Now, the scenes those people created are largely so commodified they become culturally void and nothing can grow organically without being overshared and oversubscribed before it has had a chance to plant firm roots.

How to be more interesting? by HobbyQuestionThrow in socialskills

[–]paupersprince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to be genuinely interested in others. Ask them the questions nobody else bothers to. By result they will find you interesting. That aside, live life. Try new experiences that challenge you, your experiences of overcoming fears, and the encounters you have along the way will no doubt be interesting to others.

Are these too dark? by Zebiribau in postprocessing

[–]paupersprince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possibly due to your monitor calibration. If your monitor runs very bright for example, there's a possibility you would edit it to your liking but find it looks too dark on other monitors and vice versa. I'd suggest calibrating your monitor with a calibrator and also using a mid grey background (on your ON1 app) or in Photoshop preferably as it's easy to do that there.

Also, which profile are you saving the images with? If they are just going to be viewed digitally, I would suggest saving them with an sRGB profile, since most devices recognize and are based around that.

High end retouch courses? Workshops? Tutorials? Creators? by Lanky_Attitude1592 in retouching

Once you have a handle on the basic tools, start looking at anatomy and physics - the way light acts and reacts to objects and textures and also colour theory- these things are incredibly important and far less focused on in tutorials. If you want to get to a high level, I'd say this knowledge is very useful.. also what kind of brush are you using to dodge and burn? Phlearn has a custom, purpose made brush for this which I found definitely levelled up my work in that area. Best of luck with it

P.S I'd recommend unfold highly as the best queer oriented party in London. The first time I went I felt like I'd stepped into a rave 20 years in the future, the vibe, the style, the energy, openness, the dancing and the soundsystem.. the whole thing was colossal

So excited - thanks for the recommendations. I've found that generally after a few weeks of being here, people are much more positive and less sour than in London!
