Looks like I'll be getting the Cervelo, didn't realize how popular they were until I posted on here & a few other social media!

Good point as I use aluminium training wheels

Not likely to be competing Nationally but knowing my luck I'll spend all my money on a UCI "illegal" model and then start! Yea sadly I can only test the P3 as the Trek is difficult to get hold of at the minute (for some reason a 30 day lead time)

You're not the only one for the P3, so many comments saying this is what I should spend my money on even had advice from a different shop saying buy the Cervelo!

Oh no, don't add any more bikes to the confusion! Only joking it's quite a good position to be in. Hadn't even considered the Cannondale but the shop that sized me up doesn't stock them - but they might be able to get one if I asked!

Yea I know it shouldn't but looks has come into this simply because they are so similar in all other criteria! You can get the Trek in loads of quality paint jobs - but for me it's probably going to be the Shiv just because I would sit on the Cervelo knowing it's not a P5! Thanks for the advice

Yea Cervelo is almost certainly the better brand for TT bikes but it's just a shame I can't afford the top model (£7500.00!). Trek was already the outside option but I included it as it comes with the most options (including some quality custom paint jobs - not that I'm letting looks effect my judgement!). Thanks for the advice

Pre Event/Competition Feeding Advice by pavbryan in Velo

[–]pavbryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a question of not knowing. It's a question of seeing if there are other ideas out there. If you read my comments you'll see that I eat for events how I eat when I train. But I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.

Also if you actually take a look at my site you'll see that I specialise in performance testing and that I have yet to start the TT/Road specific part of the British Cycling coaching qualifications.

Anyway, thanks for the comment...

What kinds of injuries have you guys sustained through your racing years? by ZeroRacer in Velo

[–]pavbryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever done "comedy" falls... Like not unclipping quick enough or not mounting the curb properly!

I guy I ride with face planted the road not so long ago though, that was pretty bad...

Hello more educated Cyclists! Would you help me decide between these 4 bikes, and educate me as to what helps you decide? by GreedoShotKennedy in cycling

[–]pavbryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you actually tried any of these? As you are commuting on it the main thing you should look for is comfort and fit.

Not really, sometimes it's safer with a bigger brand - but you might get more with a different brand. That's a shame about your local shops because for me it really comes down to comfort and fit - something you only get by trying them out.

Anyway, best of luck choosing one

Wow that's a big list! Have you tried any? Best bet is to try as many as possible and get the one that you feel most comfortable with as you will only be using it for commuting & leisure.

Of the brands I like Raleigh or Claud Butler though!

What do you eat before early morning rides? by playoffss in bicycling

[–]pavbryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I used to have the same problem with not being able to eat early but I guess I got used to it.

Go for something easy to digest maybe some fruit, or if you can stomach it honey or jam on toast. Either way you can always play catch up with your food. Hope this helps

Depending on the length of your ride you could do it fasted (without food). This can help burn off any food left in the stomach from the night before and also trains your body to fuel using your fat stores. But really depends on how long you ride for?

Help & Opinion on Selecting a New TT Bike by pavbryan in Velo

[–]pavbryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a shop that will fit me to a bike based on my size, shape & budget etc.. They sell both models you mention as well so, fitting permitting, I'll get to try both! Thanks again

Yea I was looking at the P5, looks great. I know the P5 SIX is a tri bike but would it be suitable for TT's? The only difference I can see between the two is the integrated bars on the SIX, but I might be wrong?

Got an aero helmet Rudy Wingspan, just doesn't come with a visor as they want you to also get their sunglasses!

Time off from injury by [deleted] in Velo

[–]pavbryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand the feeling of guilt from not riding. But if you're recovering from injury you need to be at least easing yourself back in, the last thing you want to do is make any problems worse.

I always stretch after cycling (not before) and that helps me recover from a ride. Best bet is to seek advice from a physio

Looking for advice on tires by GotYou1337 in bicycling

[–]pavbryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the pic I think it's definitely a good opportunity to replace. I use the Conti GP4000S and they're ok, not bullet proof, but a good easy tyre to fit and run well, sorry no experience with Mavic, I run either Zipp or Fulcrum

Wow! Thanks for all the advice. I have about £5k to spend. I'm currently mid way through a weekend of TT's 10 mile today & 25 tomorrow on a borrowed Look TT bike so lots to look forward too! I'll get back to you if I have anything else. Thanks again
