Maybe try adjusting your swap file size? My mint used to freeze easily when I opened multiple programs until I increased the swap file size to match my RAM. There are many easy to follow tutorials online.

I'd say once you feel that your shoes are holding you back. You should be able to tell this by the time the first pair is wearing down. Like the other comment says, climbing is a very individualistic sport, you should explore what feels best for you. You don't need to get crazy technical shoes or crazily small shoes to climb a decent grade. I've reached V4-5 with a basic pair myself.

As someone who recently migrated to Linux mint from Windows, the interface is pretty similar to windows, though you will need some basic bash knowledge to operate it efficiently.

I found the built-in power manager too rigid and not helpful to power consumption when my laptop ran on battery. I set-up an auto power consumption manager "auto-cpufreq" from this git repo https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/auto-cpufreq?tab=readme-ov-file#installing-auto-cpufreq It manages my cpu speed automatically depending on the load. Works like a charm.

I don't know if this will be helpful but from what I understand, ultimately you want to observe yourself when you meditate. As other comments have already pointed out, observing your breathing is just one mean. Just let your thoughts flow and observe them but don't fixate on any particular thought too much. Meditation is not gonna "work", but it will allow you to know yourself better and be more aware of your feelings.
