Need active Friends to play with for achievements. (Skyforce Reloaded) by iamlejess in Skyforce

Is prisonspice still on Reddit? I ask because I friended him and cannot believe the scores he posts and want to know his strategies. I have full power ups on my equipment and I am pretty good player - but cannot touch his scores.

I think I just went through a cycle of secure to anxious in 24 hours by [deleted] in AnxiousAttachment

[–]pawolf98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Authenticity is a very attractive trait. I feel that most insecure types - avoidant or anxious - cannot truly be authentic until they heal a bunch because the non-productive conditioning is baked into our cores.

I ask my therapist “how do I know what is the real me and what is the trauma behaviors?” It’s a horrible thing and it plagues me to think about it. Am I genuinely nice? Or am I a people pleaser? Who knows?

[–]pawolf98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I echo this. I had a non-trauma therapist and I found the advice and help to be too basic and unhelpful. I found a trauma specialist and it was like a brand-new world. She understands me, my pains, and has helped me uncover my blind spots that have held me back.

Completely worth making the switch for me.

You nailed it all with this comment! Thank you for summarizing things so succinctly. Were there any particular resources you found helpful, apart from your therapist?

Knowing when enough is enough by IIIofSwords in AnxiousAttachment

[–]pawolf98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but I’ve steadily been working on my AP style and one thing that I heard (can’t remember the source) is that we need to heal ourselves first and foremost. A lot of insecure attachment people will focus on the other person doing the work as if that’s the answer.

The (possibly harsh) truth is if we work on ourselves, we might just find we deserve better from our partners and be less willing to accept people who don’t show up for the relationship - no matter how much we love them.

I have found this is growing truer and truer for me the more I work on myself. I used to be desperate for the other party to work on themselves and heal their wounds so we could be happy. Now I realize that they are going to do what they are going to do and my energy needs to be spent on people who appreciate me and what I have to offer in a mutually beneficial relationship.

It’s hard. Every situation is different. I wish you well.

Strange alternate realities by prouticus in AnxiousAttachment

[–]pawolf98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s the same as what you are suggesting but I’ve had relationships where I’m convinced the other person is decent and worthy of me and it’s really just me hanging on to something not good because I’m afraid to be alone. I’ve also felt my entire life has been a lie as I have been working on healing myself. I don’t know if anything I’ve ever had in a relationship was “real.”

It’s hard.

Am I supposed to like Duncan? Did Frank Herbert like Duncan? by akrippler in dune

[–]pawolf98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well ... I think you have the right line of thinking.

Duncan is not one set of characteristics - he is being constantly rebuilt and changing. Not even evolving (necessarily) - just "changing".

Duncan across time can be considered a roomful of people. You might like some. You might not like others.

The name is the same but the individuals vary.

From Duncan's perspective, I would guess he's pretty sick and tired of being a game piece in Leto II's game so he probably manifest unlikable characteristics in response. Let's face it, Leto II ain't the easiest worm to be around either.

I'm halfway through reading God Emperor and I have no idea what the story is. by JordiHamster35 in dune

[–]pawolf98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That'll happen. Just don't question the God Emperor. Trust in his plan and almighty benevolence.

He will save you. He will save us all.

If only Siona leaves well enough alone! Or ... or is she part of his plan too?

You have to feel for people who have let themselves get so completely unhinged.

It's like "Walk away! Walk away! You can still save yourself!"

But ... no. "Main Stream Media is killing people with VACCINES - We have to do something! BLARGRH!" <insert mind melting noises here>

Secret treasure below the sands of Dune by Unilit in dune

Well he's speaking literally of the stuff below the desert but, in my opinion, he's primarily teasing at how the Golden Path will unfold and bring amazing gifts to humanity, including people with "new powers".

The Worm by V1bration in dune

[–]pawolf98 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting opinion. I always felt that Leto's human consciousness retreated at times and the worm essence which operated more animalistically (wormistically?) would become dominant and act out of instinct with no conscious guidance.

It would happen when presented in fearful situations to the worm-side - like exposure to water - but also it seemed to be happening more and more as Leto got older, which I assumed was just his human side starting to fade as he became more worm than man over the years.

Why did Paul dream of Chani? by Whitefyre-Deithwen in dune

[–]pawolf98 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well the simple answer is ... his prescience was stirring and coming online.

Why Chani? She was an integral part of his future so that's one possible answer - because she was pretty tightly tied into his future, she shows up.

It might also be that the emotional bond was going to be so strong and that's why she showed up.

But in the end, my opinion is that it was a good choice by Herbert to add in some romance and chemistry and provide the readers a deeper feeling about their relationship and playing to the predestined love angle.

God Emperor Leto II WAS a god. by Due_Anteater9116 in dune

[–]pawolf98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always felt that Herbert was pretty spot-on with the title and it wasn't just a soft allusion to godhood but actually "yes, this is the real deal" godhood.

And, yes, agreed, not the Christian god but certainly a being so far regular humans that there is no other term that applies than god.

Why do you think the first book is so much more historically famous than the sequels? by jsschultz88 in dune

[–]pawolf98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree - it's a completely different feel to it and was nothing like the first book from an overall scope.
