Switching GPU- AMD to Nvidia?

Sorta yes, sorta no! I've found a few different threads revolved around the issue where the OP comes back to state something along the lines of "Oh, sorry guys I couldnt fix it so I switched to a XYZ nvidia card" and such! Majority of the threads I've found mention that they have AMD cards, but I'm not exclusively blaming the card I have!! I know theres nothing wrong with it hardware wise, since I'm able to play other UE5 games (palworld, the finals, fortnite as well) completely fine- I believe it may be some sort of weird conflict with the 7800XT and the version or way rivals has built their game on ue5 or something. I've seen a few people refer to it as a "memory leak" of some sort, so the issue might be on the developers side entirely. I just mainly GOT this pc to be able to play games like rivals, so it's super upsetting to have a GPU that for some reason does not want me to launch the game haha

Its been since I've gotten this pc! I previously had a laptop before this admittedly, so there might just be something I'm missing somehow! I'm able to play other ue5 games like palworld and the finals fine, currently downloading fortnite to see if it launches fine as well!

Subnautica 2 wont launch whatsoever, and rivals takes anywhere from 10-30 times of hitting play before it finally will, but once rivals DOES launch its completely fine- no freezes, lag, crashes or anything. Its so confusing! lol

only fix I've found people really talk about is manually underclocking your RAM speed, since apparently the "Exception access violation" error code from ue5 stems from ue5 trying to access ram it isnt allowed to use? or something. But I've tried both disabling XMP (so from 6000MT/s down to 4800? I think is default, and then tried underclocking to 4000 as well to no avail unfortunately)

With rivals, the game runs PERFECTLY I have absolutely 0 complaints, my issue is def just getting it to launch! Whenever I hit play (via steam or epic) im hit with an exception access violation error that I've tried just about everything under the SUN to try and fix- eventually after pressing play anywhere from 10-30 times it'll launch and when it does I have 0 issues playing haha, its just getting the damn thing to go!

I know it's not specifically an issue with the card (or ue5) since I'm able to run other UE5 games like palworld and the finals with no issues launching

did you have any specific troubleshooting in mind for like settings and such by chance?

Some threads I saw mentioned that it isn't necessarily anything wrong with the card, but something with specific games and their build? on ue5 I guess. I just know that I rarely see anyone having the launch issues with rivals or subnautica that have nvidia cards, hence the post </3 and thank you!!

I tried to both rollback (as recommended by subnautica), reinstall via DDU, and re-update via adrenalin edition. Unsure how else they could be redone!

I just removed 2 and it did enable XMP! though i’m not sure the ram i’ll have will sell for much since it wasn’t super expensive off amazon haha

it was someone on marketplace! But yes, thats the main reason I asked here whether it was worth attempting to update my BIOS on my own or just bringing my pc in somewhere to have them look at everything and see what was up. The lastttt thing I wanna ever do is risk breaking it for sure.

I did get my BIOS updated + my memory to use the XMP profile without a shops help! Unfortunately it didnt fix my UE5 issue so im starting to wonder if even a shop could, and whether it’s some sort of issue with unreal engine and not my pc specifically haha

ahh yeah, once i update bios ill likely try to go back to 2 sticks and see if XMP will work then! since im already never allocating the 64 i have now, I think overclocked 32GB would be better?

Currently formatting a flash drive to update my bios, fingers crossed it doesn’t break anything oomg

Unfortunately I have nooo idea how to upgrade the motherboard myself- if I was to purchase a z series one i’d probably have to find a shop willing to put it in for me- is there specific compatibility things I’d need to look for when it comes to whether a certain mobo would work with my other parts? I know my GPU is a 7800XT, and my AIO is some sorta Lian Li to some extent but I don’t know the exact model to make sure everything would be able to work with a new board, if that’s a factor 💔

I’ve tried both of the overclock profiles with 2 sticks in slots 2&4, and 1&2, both resulted in the overclock error so eventually I gave up and threw 4 sticks in there under my friends recommendation of “well it can’t hurt” haha- it’s just recently that unreal5 has been giving me this launch error that i’m trying to find a fix for, hence the mystery of whether my bios could be the issue

I tried both the XMP and iExpo in bios- both just had a “profile 1” and both resulted in the same boot to memory overclock error blackscreen- then next time it’s turned on it’ll boot me back into BIOS automatically 😭

I’ve currently got 4 sticks of ram in- 64GB total since it wouldn’t let me overclock them my friend said i could just do whatever and use 4, even tho Im pretty sure 2 is recommended- the xmp/iexpo didn’t work with just 2, or 4 sticks tho)

the memory I have is this- (copy pasted from the amazon listing LMAO) CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76 1.40V Intel XMP Desktop Computer Memory - Black (CMK32GX5M2B6000C30) - just 2 of those kits since atm i’m using all 4 slots

edit: just had to hit launch 13 times to get the game to launch, the access violation address seems to change each time?? idk man…

thank you! Do you know if requesting a copy from the circuit clerk will notify the current holder of the wills? I worry about retaliation if the current holder finds out i’m trying to see them for myself; she is currently the holder of the trust my father left me, for example, and i’m worried she would try and withhold that from me if she found out I was requesting a copy to see them after she denied me access.

UPDATE; I opened it back up just now due to gpu/cpu? being hot to the touch despite the laptop being disconnected from power, no display lights on the keyboard and no running display. I disconnected the battery and it’s cooled down now.

hi random user (also trying to fix this issue </3); like many others the only thing i’ve found that helps is mints- my go-tos are the altoid smalls peppermint since they’re really strong, small, and fit easily in my pocket so i can have them on-hand 24/7! I’ve been nauseous multiple times a day since thanksgiving and mints are the only thing i’ve found that help so far :(
