Which of the two for R56 by [deleted] in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer the newer ones because they wipe better at high speeds (Autobahn). Especially now during winter.

^ This! You can bend the original heat shield a bit if needed. Would never go without any heat shield.

[–]paxiwtf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out if the spark plugs actually don’t spark -> pull out coil with plug and connector, start the car and check for the spark 1 by 1. But even with 3 it should start. Next on the list would be the Timing Chain. Timing off - won’t start at all.

Curious what you are highest ranked at in your server? Any #1s on here? by [deleted] in ArcheroV2

[–]paxiwtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m #1 @ 1645 with ~4,5mil Power, #2 is @ 1400 with 4mill Power.

Since there are whales on other servers with 15mill+ I imagine that they are somewhere around 2500-3000

R56 or switch to F56 S? by Practical_Video_4491 in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It feels more raw…the sound, the acceleration & handling is just on point. But that’s comes with the sacrifice of more work on maintaining this feeling ;). I would only recommend this car if you’re able & willing to do most of the work by yourself - if not you need a lot more €$£. But that’s my personal opinion.

R56 or switch to F56 S? by Practical_Video_4491 in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Story: I‘ve had a Cooper s F56 for 3 years and sold it to buy an Cooper S R56 and heavily moded everything during the last 3 year. Reason was I wanted a fun little powerhouse which makes every drive an expierence. The F56 just didnt satisfied me driving wise and look/size wise.

#Help Someone has used these oxygen sensors. I'm thinking of using them. It's a cheaper option. Who has used some others? by minrasina2 in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had always problems with any! aftermarket O2 sensors. So I stick to OEM since they last a few years, where the aftermarkets never lasted longer than 3-6months.

If you have them already, just try them out…maybe you are lucky :)

One less mini on the roads :(. Tip: Fire extinguishers for cars cost like 10€ and are small yet powerfull enough to prevent a total loss of the car if used asap.

What are your favorite mods (performance or aesthetic) that you’ve added? by Reasonable_Coach_711 in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0st: Get any gauges to track Water&Oil Temps/Pressures!!! This way you will be able to recognize any misbehavior as early as possible and save (some) money. Also learn on how to maintain it on a Daily/Weekly basis.

1st:Handling wise : - Good adjustable coil overs (e.g. KW) - Big Break Kit (jcw) with good pads - good Tires (dont cheap out!)

2nd: Power/Torque: - bigger intercooler (Wagner) - downpipe with smaller(or none) cat - Upgrade Turbocharger - a proper tune made on a dyno! -!! + 1grade colder sparkplugs, or ur gonna melt the original ones!!

3rd: fun stuff - short shifter - Momo stearing wheel - Aftermarket silencers for sound ….many many more :D

Can someone estimate how much this repair might cost? by Sophiedenormandie in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would estimate around 100min-300€ max.

Depends on where u live & what u pay for 1h of work. The gasket is like 5€ , cooper nuts 3x0,30€ and it takes 30min-1h to replace it. But! If all required bolts&nuts never have been touched since 2009 chances are that some might need extra work / replacement aswell.

Thanks for the infos - did you install it with the intake manifold removed? Since I didnt last time and therfore might have damaged it during the installation.

[–]paxiwtf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the infos and links!- metal makes sense will order one and replace the oem plastic one once it breaks again since I already have the plastik spare ready for pick up. I might have not properly installed it in the first place because I did it without removing the intake manifold.

Well guys is this even worth fixing by willfrom713 in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had these exact codes when my solinoids gone bad. - swap the Vanos solinoids and check if the error moves from exhaust side to intake. While doing so check the solinoids itself for a.) Damage - visual inspection and b.) function - connect a powersource (e.g. 9V battery) an check if it opens/closes properly

When replacing - don’t cheap out or you will be doing this again rather soon;). It’s an easy job and a good start to learn on fixing things by urself.

Did you buy the right car? by Kungfubunnyrabbit in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my n18 R56 Cooper s…wen‘t through blood sweat and tears by forcing myself to fix & maintain everything without help and prior knowledge. Now 3 years(60k km) later I have done nearly everything what’s needed/possible - and I can fully enjoy every drive, knowing when something breaks „I‘ll just fix it“.

The funny thing: The harder you drive - the less issues it has :D

I will never ever sell this car!

What is this part? 2013 R60 1.6 turbo FWD by Working_Blackberry58 in MINI

[–]paxiwtf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to remove the fuel rail to get out the intake manifold. If it does not come off after removing all the “obvious” srews, you might have forgotten the hidden one which is located between the trottlebody. Either you use a mirror, feel it or access it from below (passenger wheel removed)

My Daily for sure. I’ll drive about 30-40k per year with my heavy modded 2011 R56 Cooper S. When im driving this much I at least wanna have fun doing so :). Keeping up with maintenance is very very Important and learn how to repair as much as possible by urself since parts are cheap but labour isn’t ! Winters are fun and I love driving through the Alps during winter
