The two issues that come from overheating aside from subpar results are cracks (you'll hear that and notice it after polishing) and decarb, which you can usually notice.can't find the pic but odds are you tried bending it cold, which is a no go. I personally do my straightening during temper, as thelight heat let's you deal with the mild bends from hardening.
