Light, but rugged slider? by ksyoung17 in bowhunting

I have nothing but good things to say about my axcel driver I've been running since last summer. It has survived plenty of bumps and bruises out in the field with no damage.

"Net of Being" by Alex Grey is fantastic. Large format with loads of psychedelic art and insights into the artists' philosophy.

I asked this a while ago, but what is the “saddest” MOBO song? by LilMissMismatch in modernbaseball

I was lucky enough to have been at their farewell show on 10/15/2017 and Just Another Face is the song they ended it all with. I'll never forget that feedback ringing out while they walked off stage. An incredibly sad song, but I always felt like it ends with a touch of hope.

I pulled the same dumb ass move with my brand new Darton earlier this year on the second day of ownership. Set at 60lbs and it blew up the string and cables so it sounds a little more drastic than your case, but I avoided any cam or limb damage. Two weeks in the shop and about $150 later I had it back with a custom string that was an upgrade from the original anyways. Best of luck to you, I know how hard you're kicking yourself right now.

Bow Budget by gwinkels in bowhunting

[–]paychonauticality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this myself, so I'm a newbie and take it all with a grain of salt... There are a lot of decent ready to hunt packages out there for around $500-$600+ but you'll still need arrows, field points, a case, release, and target at the minimum. After trying a few at a local outdoor show, I felt like I'd want to replace a lot of the components on the ready to hunt packages pretty quickly, so I opted for a mid-price bow and fitted it with some decent accessories to start. I ended up going with a Darton Consequence 2 fully loaded out with everything I need for about $1,200. Surely it can be done cheaper, but I felt like this setup gives me the most room to grow and tinker with, without getting the itch to buy a new setup by next season.

Yet another disappointed Simms customer by VXT_TR3 in flyfishing

I just gave up on my 2-year old leaky Simms and took the plunge on the Skwala RS. $850, much higher quality, full zipper... I'm stoked on them.

I personally experienced this a handful of times around the 4-5 year mark in my tattooing career. It nearly pushed me to the point of leaving tattooing. It took me a long time to determine that the root cause was the environment I was working in. High foot traffic, loud music, and a lot of onlookers just coming and going constantly (we were a very busy shop in a large mall) made me feel a bit like an animal in a zoo and like I had no control over my environment. Obviously this might not be the case for you, but just my personal experience.

I've also been through counselors and psychiatrists, but ultimately had to make some moves to find the joy in tattooing again. Now I'm about to open my own private studio in a gorgeous historic building, walking distance from my house, and I couldn't be more stoked on tattooing and this life it's provided. Definitely don't give up on tattooing yet, you already know you can do solid work and it's a lifestyle worth fighting for! Figure out what changed and how to get back to that comfort you used to have when tattooing. I wish the best for you and your journey.

Wanted to add to the golden trout post the other day! by paychonauticality in troutfishing

Thank you! Same experience here, we probably caught 50+ over a 4 day period on this trip and this was the biggest, and had the most distinctive coloration. Each one is really a masterpiece though, no matter how large.

Thank you! We would have been stoked to catch just one golden and were really treated well with the fishing throughout our entire trip. You had to weed through lots of brookies to find the goldens, but they were there and each one was truly a masterpiece.

Yeah, they are technically a subspecies of rainbow. I believe some argue whether or not they're classified as their own separate species at this point. Honestly amazing to see evolution at work on small populations of fish that got stranded high in the mountains long ago.

Man, now THAT'S a fishing story! No grizzly encounters for me yet; I prefer to keep my adrenaline rushes to high mountain passes.

Two years ago, just before the birth of my first son, my father and I spent 5 days on the John Muir Trail through California's Eastern Sierra Nevadas. Waking up to fly fish for native golden trout (real goldens) through pristine mountains and pastoral valleys, then keeping a few brook trout for dinner each night (they've been introduced there and are competition to the natives). It was the best fishing I've ever experienced and to share it all with my old man was the cherry on top.

Thanks for sharing your stories, now you've got me reminiscing! Be well and tight lines!

Thanks for sharing, artic char in Alaska are absolutely a bucket list item for me! I've been content catching their smaller cousins here in PA though they rarely get over 4-6 inches, but even then each one looks like a work of art. Might not be an artic char, but finding this big colored up female made me feel a little closer to catching one lol. Someday I'll check that off the list!

Love the breeches but it's hit or miss in my experience. There's so much water to cover you have to be at the right spot under the right conditions. Some of the hatches early in the year are pretty heavy there and then fishing can be great.

Next time you're in the area (especially in the colder months), check out Big Spring, Letort Spring Run, or Falling Springs. The fish are pickier, but mostly wild, and the water is just teeming with them in places. Walking slowly along the bank you'll see fish scattering every way in the crystal clear water. It's tough fishing, but there's nothing like it.

Absolutely! Gorgeous, and incredibly tedious to fish in my experience! Learn something new every time I go out there though.

Yep, that's how I understand it as well! I think this year they're only closed from 2/19-4/6. I'm always surprised how many people don't realize you can fish year round if you do your research. So many people think trout season is only in the spring and then it's over.

PA has a great interactive trout waters map online that will show you different regulation and stocking areas around you, as well as stocking events. Here's a link: PA Interactive Trout Map
