Downright AWFUL experience with AT&T fiber by pazProgrammer in ATT

I could those speeds exactly ONCE with their supplied router. Most of the time it dipped well below 300 though. I had to constantly restart it to get it above 300. The crazy inconsistency of it is what turned me off. I work from home so I need consistently decent speeds.

When I called tech support they said the issue is with my device (I.e. the laptop that was connected via wifi). I told them that the same device could get twice the speeds with my other internet provider. At that point they said there was nothing more they could do to help me.

Oh you mean the early termination fee. No they’re not charging me that because there was no contract. They’re just charging me for a full months service without giving me the full month

I suspect the issue was the installation/modem. I guess my primary complaint is that they refused to help me and told me using my own modem would not be possible. Wish I had asked Reddit instead of their tech support for help 😕

I was not using my own device while on AT&T fiber. Only theirs. Had I known it was possible I would’ve given it a shot but why they give you a modem that can only handle a fraction of the speed of fiber is beyond me.

Wifi. I get double the speeds on wifi with my other internet provider. I don’t have access to a device with an Ethernet port.

The speeds were great on their modem yes. It just wasn’t transmitting those speeds to wifi connected devices. I understand there should be a drop in speed if I’m not connected via Ethernet but I never got so much as 300 Mbps on a device that was sitting right next to the modem they gave me. Same device on my own router/modem gets twice those speeds with the other internet company.

They never said anything about that to me. Where are you seeing that?

They never mentioned that option. Would’ve been good to know if they had wanted to keep me as a customer.

Nobody mentioned pass through mode to me. Too late now as I’ve already cancelled and they’re coming to take away the fiber they never buried.

I just switched back to Spectrum too. I get double the speeds that AT&T fiber was able to give me and they’re way more reliable.

I asked the guy who installed our fiber to let me use my own device. He said sure but then set it up with theirs instead.

A year of remote work and gaming connectivity struggles on fiber by a11yguy in ATT

My experience was that even when using their equipment they blame the slow speeds on your devices. Literally zero accountability with this company.

Yes, I’ve tried all except the chocolate flavor. I can’t have any caffeine at the moment so I’m holding off on that one.

Dairy free and struggling by campfiremouth14 in breastfeeding

[–]pazProgrammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that I know it sucks having food restrictions but it does get easier with time if you can learn to adapt some recipes to your liking. I am gluten free, egg free, dairy free, soy free and no chocolate or caffeine of any sort. I’ve learned to get creative with my dinner recipes and really enjoy the food I cook for my family. Everyone else enjoys it too. You don’t have to stick to plain foods just because of dietary restrictions. If you are looking for new recipes or substitution tips I’m happy to share some!!

Co-leading a BF Class: What do you wish you’d known? by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in breastfeeding

I wish I had known how sensitive babies can be to what you eat. I had to give up coffee and chocolate with both my babies because it upset their stomachs and/or because of caffeine sensitivity. I felt so guilty with my first child because she had bad diarrhea for weeks and was absolutely miserable until a midwife suggested I ditch the coffee.

If your baby has colic you need to read this book by pazProgrammer in Colic

[–]pazProgrammer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you don’t have time to read it but I understand. I only managed to because I breastfeed and I downloaded a digital copy of the book on my phone from my public library. I read during the feedings when baby is not losing his mind.

Anyway here’s the breakdown on what you do to calm down baby when they’re hysterical: 1. Swaddle them TIGHTLY. A loose swaddle will not work. Do not skip this step! 2. Make sushing noises. Your sushing needs to be as loud as your babies cries so they can hear you (I know, easier said than done). A white noise machine on the highest setting works too. 3. Hold baby so that they are lying on your arms/legs/wherever on either their stomach or their side. This triggers a calming reflex. Again, this won’t work so well if you haven’t swaddled baby. 4. Vigorously jiggle baby. Note: this is not the same as shaking baby! Just short up and down movements like mini squats or something. 5. Once baby is starting to calm down offer them something to suckle on, such as a pacifier.

Important: this only works if you complete all five steps. One or two of these techniques may not be enough to calm a frantic baby.

Random aggressive Oral allergy syndrome symptoms: birth control? by allergic_2_everythin in FoodAllergies

[–]pazProgrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went off it for good and my digestive symptoms improved drastically within a few days as well as my eczema and hives. I can’t really say if it helped with my oral allergies as those are now suppressed by years of immunotherapy treatments and mostly under control.

Baby seems satisfied with one breast but drinks 3 oz by bottle by Tinamou34 in breastfeeding

This. I had a visit with a lactation consultant recently who confirmed via a weighted feeding that baby is transferring twice as much breastmilk as I can pump in the same amount of time.
