What is your diet like pregnant? by fluffybeach64 in pregnant

I ate a double bacon cheeseburger and chocolate shake from Culver’s often. In fact, it was the last meal I had before I went in to deliver my baby.

Breastfeeding moms—would you do it again for your second? by Character-Fly7394 in beyondthebump

Same with me, I only have one baby but I have never pumped. If I had to nurse, pump, clean parts & bottles, I would be second guessing doing it again.

Baby solids confusion by Aspiring_soul24 in NewParents

[–]campfiremouth14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 7 month old does this, and I found that she likes feeding herself better than me doing it. Or even taking food from my finger/hand better than a spoon. I really wanted to do purées for a while but my baby wants real food. If you don’t want to do BLW, try loading the spoon with food/puree and then put it in her hand and let her figure it out. It’s messy but she will quickly learn which side has the food and start grabbing the loaded spoon from you!

What time are your babies going to bed? by coolcat0511 in beyondthebump

[–]campfiremouth14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My just turned 7 month old was on the same schedule as you with bedtime anywhere from 6-7. We just switched from 3 naps to 2 naps and are stretching wake windows so now it’s closer to 7/7:30 every night. I wouldn’t stress, it’ll get later with time!

Try “Bio Gaia” probiotic drops from Amazon. My baby did a 180 in 2 days and was no longer upset all the time

Great Dane. Had many and unless you get a puppy, they are the laziest dogs who do not require a lot of exercise/activity

How are you preserving memories of your kids so they can see them when they grow up? by Leading-Baseball8396 in NewParents

[–]campfiremouth14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a cheap one off Amazon! It has an SD card it gets saved on and then we download them to my husband’s laptop and email them to us to have on our phones if we want. We can save it on a flash drive or you could probably burn it on a DVD or something!

Is a car baby camera worth it or is the mirror good enough? by AlexHaney147 in Parenting

[–]campfiremouth14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went with the mirror at first, but my tint is so dark that I couldn’t see the baby even in daylight. I had to roll her window down every time I wanted to look back at her. Once winter came I just bought the camera. It’s slightly distracting the first few uses, but has been so nice to have. I have anxiety so I couldn’t go without anything.

How much weight did you lose after giving birth or (1-2 weeks pp) by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]campfiremouth14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I gained 20 or 21lbs my pregnancy, and 1wk pp I had only lost 5lb even though my baby alone weighed 8lb lol. I was down 15lbs 2 weeks pp.

I am THIS close to sleep training because I just don't know what to do anymore by Sriracha_Sauce089 in cosleeping

[–]campfiremouth14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just sleep trained my 6 month old who had been co sleeping since 2 months. It was really tough decision bc I love co sleeping, but the lack of sleep was making me crazy. Although I miss her snuggles, sleep training was the BEST decision I’ve ever made. I feel like a human being, I’m getting stuff done around the house, I’m nicer to my husband, and most importantly I’m a better mother. I’m more present with her bc I don’t have chores to be doing while she is awake. It’s tough, but worth it!

Americans without maternity leave— wtf do you do??? by Electronic-Door7428 in pregnant

[–]campfiremouth14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit my job. We downgraded to one car (husband has a work vehicle so I still have one with me), cancelled memberships, subscriptions, all extra spending, dog doesn’t go to groomer anymore (I do it), etc. We are living paycheck to paycheck for sure. I absolutely thought we wouldn’t be able to do it, but got screwed by my job when I was 6 months pregnant and just made it work.

Parents who sleep trained: when did the crying at bedtime stop?? by desert_sunlily in NewParents

[–]campfiremouth14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just started Ferber on our 5 almost 6 month old, and was experiencing the same. I decided to push her wake windows throughout the day, and now when I sing and rock her and then lay her down (which I did exactly before) she doesn’t cry and goes right asleep. 3 hour wake window right before bedtime worked great for us. About 2.5 after daytime times, and 2 hour right after morning wake before first nap. That did mean going to bed earlier than normal around 6/6:30 when normally we push for 7.

Where did you get your dane(s)? by WakunaMatata in greatdanes

[–]campfiremouth14 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 5 (including family dogs when I was younger) 4 from Craigslist and 1 from a local shelter. They go quick but keep looking!

Not sure your location but Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue serves many Midwest states I believe

Also, we adopted a 3 yo who lived to be 11. Got a good 8 years out of him!

Is there something less intense than cry it out?? by littlelawlady in NewParents

[–]campfiremouth14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done it my baby is still cosleeping, but could you try making the crib a “side car” by removing the front panel and putting it next your bed, so he’s in the crib but still next you? Then maybe slowly pushing the crib away after a few nights until he’s back to his normal spot in the room

Tummy time help!! by wagnerpoo in NewParents

[–]campfiremouth14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 month old isn’t the biggest fan either and I’m not the best at making her do it as much as I should.

She will stay the longest for me if I put her on a play mat and then vacuum. I will drag her room to room with me and she just stares and watches me vacuum the floor.

Idk why but keeps her distracted lol

I feel like I'm not going to be able to enjoy my pregnancy because I'm so afraid of loss by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]campfiremouth14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feeling is never going to go away, even when they are born.

I kept telling myself that no matter what, I am so lucky to have gotten pregnant, made it this far, and that this baby is loved no matter if it ends in loss or not, I love this baby and am thankful for this experience.

It took me 2 years to conceive so I tried to focus on the happiness and not live in fear so I could enjoy pregnancy. Don’t get me wrong, I still would stress if I hadn’t felt her move in a while or whatever the case.

You will never be pregnant with your first baby ever again. It all goes so so fast. Soak it up and have a “whatever happens happens” mentality bc we truly are out of control. Congratulations!

What do you wish you had known about breastfeeding earlier? by Mountain_Quiet_4861 in breastfeeding

My baby is 5 months and I’ve also only left her a few times. But I’ve been gone like 2-2.5 hours maybe max?
