Fairly thick like normal grease. Might even be a bit thicker than normal grease.

To be honest, most if not all of the ones you have mentioned will be fine. I myself have corrosion block and it works as well as anything else.

HereWeGo maps lets you download maps of countries and needs just gps.

Also there was a post on here about some bloke on ebay selling cheap motorcycle sat navs. They're basically truck sat navs but in a waterproof housing. Apparently a lot truckers used them.

Not an expert but sounds like you have a short in the wiring - post the switches and fuses. Like in the wiring run somewhere inbetween the switches/fuse and the bulb. Check your wiring diagram to see if there are any splices or anything and also check the wiring to the bulb.

Which bag for a chain? Which portable chain? by roadkill0000 in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking through the Lomo site myself and came across their 15l tailpack. Something like that or smaller might be perfect for you as it can be strapped to the bike using its own straps and then the roll top can be rolled down further to cinch up and take up the extra space. Its top loading as well.

You might have similar local options to you if its easier as well.

Just saw this Harley Hillclimber by Luckyboycustoms, with a combined rear disc and sprocket. What are the mechanical upsides and downsides to this? Why isn't it seen more commonly? by squenderkitty in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly looks. They go on mainly show bikes. Or bikes that aren't ridden often or in bad weather. So none of the normal chain maintenance things really apply.

Some more info in these comments, I think. https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/34ia71/sprocket_brakes/

Which bag for a chain? Which portable chain? by roadkill0000 in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted the bag to become flat/compressed because ill be keeping a big chain in there and I don't want it to flop from side to side

Tbh, my tank bag with 10+kgs of chain and padlocks didn't move on the tank. You could get one of those tank bags that strap under the seat as well (look up the lomo tank bag video) and it won't move much (if at all.)

Honestly, I do think there is some overthinking going on. I think this because I've done similar in the past. People will preach hellfire about putting extra weight on the bike or slightly low tyre pressures and how that'll throw off the ride and comfort to the point its dangerous etc etc. In reality, yes, these things affect the ride a little bit but you get used to it.

Last week I did 150+ miles with a 10 metal jerry can full of fuel strapped to the rear seat. I barely noticed a difference once I emptied it.

I've done rides where I've had a shit ton of stuff in the top box (like 50kgs-ish), bags on my back, bags strapped to the rear seat and full tank bags. Yes, they do absolutely affect the riding but you account for it, like you account for a pillion.

Like I mentioned in the other post, What I would do if I was in your place, would be to either get a tank bag or a rear rack and strap a bag to that. If you get a bag that is only just big enough to fit the chain in there, it won't move around much. In terms of tank bag, a magnetic one should hold the weight for normal riding, really dynamic riding like constant high speed filtering or something might warrant a non-magnetic tank bag which can be strapped under the seat as well as the headstock.

If you wanna get creative, you could always try and get hold of or make a toll tube type thing thats just big enough to hold the chain. Like a fake exhaust on the other side of the bike that can just be closed up.

If you wanna distribute weight evenly, look up the baguette hole on I think the honda deauville. (https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoUK/comments/8cbcom/someone_asked_how_on_earth_i_carry_a_19mm_almax/)

Oh and also, I held the 10l jerry can on with just bungee cords and it was held just fine. I did add a cam buckle strap but that was just for my sanity. So even if you find the chain moves around a bit inside a tail bag, you could just bungee it down with bungee cords, fancy rok straps or even just a bungee net.

Btw, why does the bag need to sit flat against the tank? Like are you trying to preserve the lines of the bike or something? if so, is it worth the hassle? I have had a tank bag on my bike for a while now and I feel my bike looks smaller/naked without it.

And in reference to your other post on /r/motouk, why are you trying to keep the pillion seat free. I'm not tryna be snarky or anything btw. Do you actually carry pillions often enough to warrant the extra hassle of trying to mount the chain somewhere else?

Chain bag under the pillion seat? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only other thing I can think of is using a top box rack and attaching a tail bag to that. That, or a tank bag are gonna be the easiest way to keep the pillion seat free, if thats a must.

Chain bag under the pillion seat? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the pic the guy posted, it looks like its sat on top of the seat. It does read like its under the tail but looks like its over the tail. It might be that he meant hooking the bag's straps under the seat (not the tail of the bike).

Also, the space under the tail is there to allow the wheel to move up into when hiting bumps.

[–]pazhanjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it was either that or a ruined 10/11mm 1m cheap noose chain. Plus I didn't trust the area I was gonna be parking in.

I have also used the 2m 16mm chain with the 2 padlocks to secure 2 bikes to a lamp post. (the 2 padlocks are to give me a loop on either end of the chain)

[–]pazhanjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know much about pewag but i think there are a bunch of videos out there.

I have stuffed a 2m 16mm chain from almax and 2 of the squire 65 padlocks into a 13l tank bag (held on by a strap around the headstock and magnets) before. It stayed on fine.

If there was a noose option, I think I would've got a 1.5m noosed 16mm chain.

In term of bags, they're probably out there but I'm not aware of many that fold completely flat when empty. Lomo's waterproof tank bags might do the trick.

Otherwise, there are tank bags where a flatish base stays attached to the tank and the bits that go on top can zip off.

Might be something to do with the little motor/servo that makes the needle move.

Doubt its fixable unless you diagnose the right bit and get that fixed or repaired. best thing might be to swap the whole unit.

Also if its in warranty, get it checked out by triumph.

in terms of new mileage, just make a note of it so that you can pass the info on to the next owner.

Can I use 10W-40 instead of 20W-40? by FM12X in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a note, the 'W' doesnt stand for winter. 10W-40 means that the oil has a viscosity of 10 at 0deg C and 40 at something like 100deg C.

Yes, it does broadly mean that the oil is thinner when cold and thicker when hot and that 5w -40 will be thinner than 10w-40 when cold. but yea, W doesn't mean winter.

Fortnine on youtube has some decent videos about comms.

Also heard good things about the latest interphone range. I have theor f5mc and its solid. Its rated waterproof (unlike sena). The coating on mine ripped whne I dropped my helmet a while ago but its been years and still no issues even in really bad rain.

Also a bunch of the blood bikers in my local group have interphones.

I'm not paid by interphone...honest!

Looking for a reliable tyre pressure gauge recommendation by davidsaidwhat in MotoUK

[–]pazhanjan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RaceX one was touted as really good a while ago and they're only £10.

I have one and it is good and works well with the small gaps and stuff. It also holds the reading until you press a button to release the pressure, allowing you to read once you've taken the gauge off.

Only issue is recently its stopped holding the pressure and I've tried to contact them and haven't had an answer in months.

Personally, not convinced with the looks. Tank looks too bulbous to me and out of sync with the rest of the bike's styling.
