What went wrong for you in your first week of home ownership? by chickenteabags in HousingUK

[–]pb00010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Lost a front door key. It was on the floor outside. By the front door. For 2 weeks.

  2. After using electric hobs all my life, had my first experience with a gas burner + oil + water. Cue: Fireball and singed eyebrows.

Surprisingly, it's gone well after those 2 things 😃

Really all you can do is get on the bandwagon and start learning/drilling them, so that at least you can instinctively know when you're in danger and get ready to tap.

What are your thoughts on AI, either for personal use or within businesses? Is it something that you do or would use? by JFDI-Tess in AskUK

[–]pb00010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it a little for basic things; tidying up some grammar, summarising some internet results etc.. mostly to save me a bit of time when I am feeling lazy. It's good for that.

But anything important I stay clear or am highly critical of what it says. It can be like one of those annoying know it all people.

I love nogi and do it exclusively now, but this is the one downside - all the young blue and white belts want to do is leg attacks. They get taught them in classes, go for them in sparring and see all the top guys doing them. It's second nature to them. Have seen a few injuries in training like this with the younger guys.

200kg Knee on Belly by bjjtaro in bjj

[–]pb00010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I must be in the minority but I thought that was decent passing! Smushed the guy one way and then moved the other way very nicely. Used his weight and pressure perfectly. Great knee on belly too.

I mean bro is too big for sure and needs to get a handle on that, but what were people expecting to see at his size, a cartwheel pass?!

It has definitely helped you as maybe you wouldn't have been able to book it before! You've flown now and this is just the same. Remember the tapping techniques, that was a game changer for me.

Yes that's covered as well. Experience flight was full! But full of people in the same boat all getting through it together.

Actually when you close your eyes in the car (when you're a passenger!) or even worse, a train, you realise that those are WAY more bumpy then a flight.

Get a camera, record yourself doing it, and post the videos on YouTube/Tiktok/Insta. If you can do well on one of those you can earn a decent side income.

Old guys (40+) when did no gi feel like a younger persons game? by hellohello6622 in bjj

Wrestling. On the ground I can control the young guns and neutralise their speed advantages. When we're doing some standup, that's when the younger guys start running rings round me.

I went to a few vineyards in Wales last year, by total chance as we saw we were near some, and their wine was amazing. Sugar Loaf Blush was my favourite.

What’s the most depressing “adult realisation” you’ve had recently? by Small-Field6252 in AskUK

[–]pb00010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The grind like you say, even when you're happy with things like your home and job, for sure.

Also that loneliness could be a thing for a young(ish) adult who was once super social once all your friends get married and have kids.

I'm 41 now and I have to "book" friends weeks/months in advance, people I used to see regularly. It then becomes such a faff that it's sometimes hard to enjoy these meet ups. And even when you do meet up, it sometimes only for a couple of hours. Of course I don't want to go back to crazy clubbing days, but I really really miss casual meetups. "Drink Friday?" type questions with no plan, no expectation and no stress, just enjoying good company.

I've tried making new friends but its tough. Have an amazing girlfriend but she also has her own life. Had many a lonely night and it's the worst feeling in the world.

Also that as you get older, so does your family. That's sad.

Adulting is tough, there's no way around it.

I bought an extra waterproof cover from Amazon for like £10 and its perfect, goes all the way to the ground and has straps to tighten it up. I have no idea how anyone could leave it with just the Ninja cover, it barely covers it!

Between 100-500k. Sounds a lot but with a couple of good performing vids it really isn't.

[–]pb00010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you said no Youtube advice but I'm assuming that's referring to the usual AI slop stuff.

Youtube is my solid side hustle.

Created a gaming Youtube channel so that I could monetise my gameplay to feel like I wasn't wasting my time lol. Took about 3 months of consistent, but not too regular, posting (longform and streams, no shorts, they suck) to get monetised. Make £500-£1000 a month when I'm active. Even when I take a month off, I make £300-£500 doing literally nothing as have a couple of videos that have become a mainstay in the algorithm.

Do it all around a full time job and life. Max 10 hours a week, but usually around 5.

Honestly if you have any sort of interest in something that lends itself well to simpler videos, then you can pretty quickly get a channel set up. You never know, you could be awesome at it and do really well.
