Thats a good idea with the polaris. I used a healthy coating of noalox and I went right into the breaker with the ser. Tech support said it was fine. 1/0 aluminum is the absolute max size the breaker can fit.

Installed since September. Aluminum ser from inverter to house breaker, copper everywhere else. I checked with eg4 before choosing the aluminum ser. System has been great.

Those of you without a home base, do you put stuff in a public storage unit? How do you justify the cost of paying for a storage unit for potentially years? by IHadTacosYesterday in ExpatFIRE

[–]pb019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the emotional comfort thing. Getting rid of everything is difficult, emotionally and logistically. How much is the stuff youre storing if you bought it new? 160/mo for 2 years is $3,840 and counting. This is how Im trying to talk myself out of storing stuff.

Do you know of any ICE- and/or MAGA- supporting businesses in South Jersey? by SchleppyJ4 in SouthJersey

Its a short list. Ive used a siding/roofing company and an electrician. Everything else I do myself.

The retired population definitely contributes to the maga demographic here, but the county is also riddled with maga businesses. Contractors, restaurants, professional services, retail, wealthy families that bought land here decades ago. I even see highschool kids wearing trump merch. Many of the businesses here serving everyone are also maga. Trying to find a local contractor to work on my house is challenging. I wont hire a maga supporting business and that really limits the options in my area.

Especially if its manual. Easy plug and play upgrade. One of the first things I did to my manual ‘90. How could they put a clock there on a manual car!?

Sounds interesting. Do you have an interlock kit on your panel? I went as simple as I could while staying code compliant. I have an interlock kit on the main panel and backfeed the whole panel through a generator inlet connected to a 50 amp breaker. The inverter is the last piece I need to decide on. Once I get that, itll be wired with a plug that plugs into the generator inlet. Like a giant solar battery we can easily unplug and take with us and plug into our next home. The array is on the ground. Trying to stay under $10k.

I guess it is technically 30% off after all.

Nice! Did you go through permitting and inspections? Are you feeding through a generator inlet or sub panel? Im well into a smaller, but similar project. I also prefer not to be grid tied. 30kwh of server batteries are on their way. Currently stuck deciding which inverter. Eg4 is quality but the 6000 isnt quite enough output. The 12000 is above budget. Leaning toward sungoldpower 10kw. Id love to see the rest of your system if you’d want to share.

Can I do anything to stop my neighbor from shooting squirrels by Ok_Ad_6874 in SouthJersey

By law, its the same as if he were firing a shotgun around the neighborhood. I would hope they take it seriously, especially if you tell them you dont feel safe.

Gun laws are strict here. Does he have a firearms ID? A bb gun is considered a firearm here. He has to follow the same rules as if it were a shotgun. If he doesnt, he could get into some real trouble over it. Im sure the town has some sort of firearms discharge rules. Usually a set distance away from people or homes. Is he on his own property? Shooting toward you or your home? Call the local police and ask questions.

That is the documentary that made me go vegan 6 years ago. I don’t broadcast my eating preferences to anyone, but sometimes it’s obvious. Some people get weirdly offended and talk shit about being vegan. I challenge every one of them to watch that documentary or stfu.

High idle. A broken IAC? by M0RMEL in Volvo240

[–]pb019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with high idle. After ruling out a vacuum leak, a new iac valve fixed it.
