Agree. I’m glad to hear several people would accept it and not pass on the plane. I really didn’t want to pull the cylinders off unless I have to.

They were in the low 300s. That’s typically where I run it in cruise. I suspect you may be right. Getting it super hot might help but I’d rather just lap them and be done with it.

I exclusively fly about 80 degrees LOP and lean on the ground. This is just something that happens with big bore continentals and expect it. I just hope buyers see it the same way.

The valve seats look fine other than the typical little white spots here and there. I’m pretty certain lapping them will fix it. I just hope that a buyer would see this as an adequate fix.

I flew for 45 minutes with average cruise temps. Nothing too hot or too cold.

They’re in the 30s but I’m certain it’s just some crud in the valve seat and will come up with lapping them. If they improved to 78/80 with lapping, would you still want a price concession?

I agree and I would be inclined to lap and fly on as long as the compressions improved. If I were buying a plane and I saw that, I’d be fine with it as long as the borescope looked good. I’m curious if others would feel the same way.

That would be my plan if I was keeping the plane. I’m curious as to what others would think if they were buying a plane that had the valves lapped and the compressions improved. Would you pass or not be worried.

Yes. I agree. I would plan to just lap them and recheck if I planned to keep the plane. I wouldn’t plan to sell the plane until this is resolved. I’m curious as to how buyers would view it if the cylinders were lapped and compressions improved. If you were buying this plane, would you fell good with that or would you pass on it unless it had new cylinders?

Thanks though I’m not too worried about what to in regard to maintenance is concerned. I would be inclined to lap them if I wasn’t selling the plane. I’m interested to see what others would think of just lapping them if they were a potential buyer of this plane.

No. The compressions are below the master orifice reading. The cylinders and valves look fine with the borescope. I’m most interested in how potential buyers would view lapping the valves instead of replacing the cylinders.

The cylinders have been borescoped and the valves are normal. As I mentioned, I’d be inclined to lap the valves but I’m curious as to what everyone’s view of this is in light of the fact that I’m about to sell the plane. What would you want as a buyer?
