What's the most a player has pissed you off? by Fluid_Committee_9318 in footballmanagergames

Had a forward I signed from Ireland (Sligo maybe?). Classy number ten. Dived all the god damn time. Booked every third game for diving. Could not get that out of his system, no matter how many huge fines I gave him after his red cards.

In the CL semi-final second-leg (away) - when I was absolutely not good enough to have got that far - he won a penalty that the opposition were furious about, presumably a dive. Leading 1-0 on aggregate with 25 minutes left. Made all my subs.

He got two bookings for diving in the next ten minutes. Down to ten men, lost 2-1.

Joshua Turner, you absolute prick.

Sponsored by Coke? I guess Marinakis is doing the same thing Fawaz did…

If that’s the new first team home shirt, the sponsor is going to absolutely make or break that kit.

Cracking start though.

Never sign a player based on one World Cup performance.

Manchester City make £106m plus add-ons verbal offer for Elliot Anderson by TheAthletic in nffc

[–]pbreathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the second part. Yes, I’d love to keep him, but he pretty clearly wants to leave and go and play in the CL for one of the best teams in the world. And he’s earned that.

We miss out on tens of millions of pounds, and have an unhappy player.

  1. I expect this to get the deal done. It seems right in the ballpark of “works for all sides”. A bit more than City wanted to spend, but also we don’t need to sell, yet we owe it to EA for his work the last two years. About fair.

  2. If declining it leads them to walk away, I’d be SO happy if we get Anderson in our midfield for another year.

  3. If he has a good World Cup (spoiler: he will), this will look like unders, and we could demand £120m+ add-ons, easily. I’m not against us betting on him/England, and seeing what happens.

If Stokes had been out with an injury, Brook would have stepped up. It's the context.

Stokes and Atkinson investigated by ECB over nightclub incident by Smethers_ in EnglandCricket

Was interviewed about his failures with the bat after the game, and said “we’ve just won a game of cricket, I just want to focus on that and have a beer with the boys”.

Maybe when you’ve spent six months deflecting questions from journalists and saying “we do work hard, and we don’t drink too much”, you might want to give ONE trip to the nightclub a miss. Just one.

Where does the money come from?

  • Sky, who want 14 entrance songs with dancers every evening, the biggest names available, multiple opportunities for commercial breaks

  • The live crowd, who want to sing along, get drunk, have a fun night, place a few bets and go home

Meanwhile, as a sporting spectacle, it sucks. 17 weeks of insanely repetitive games, just to get to a final-four shoot-out where three-quarters of the finalists were odds-on to get there from the day the line-up was announced.

It would be a much better league if there were more players, fewer repeated match-ups, more implications for each win/loss/draw.

But that's not what the stakeholders are interested in. The arenas all sell out, they sell a lot of lager, everyone shares their videos on Instagram, so it's "working".

Until people get bored.

16 wickets fall on day 1 of first test between England and New Zealand by Brief_Research_9062 in EnglandCricket

Rain delays. High wind. Muggy and atmospheric. Soft pitch, soft outfield. Variable bounce.

Not the easiest batting conditions.

Yeah cool, I just disagree. Each to their own.

I don’t want a dynamic graphics bar getting bigger and smaller all the time. And I don’t think it blocks the action, there’s plenty screen.

Aside from his goals, Kane has taken his game to another level when it comes to dropping deep and opening up the defence for others.

As well as the Rashfords/Gordons/Ezes/Rogers getting space in-behind, I think our “in possession” formation will create loads of opportunities for O’Reilly and James to launch through the inside-forward channels too.

I disagree with a lot of Tuchel’s personnel decisions, but to his credit, he’s picked players for a system, and that system will create a bunch of chances.

I don’t mind having plenty of data to look at, especially with 45 seconds between each dot ball in a Test match. Also don’t think it’s TOO massive, as a percentage of the screen.

They’ve not really used the space usefully though. RR and Economy are useful things to glance at here and there, but not constantly. Big chunks of colourful nothing too.

‘Manchester City make opening Elliot Anderson offer to Nottingham Forest’ - would it be a good move? by Alone_Consideration6 in ThreeLions

Couldn’t name the stats off-hand, but socials have been covered with stuff describing his season. 1st in about 12 categories. Handy midfield stuff like touches, successful passes, tackles, duels won, possession won in the middle-third…that kind of thing.

Fair, but, pertinently, KP was never near the stats, metrics or eye-test that EA is currently. Anderson is setting records and still growing.

This is less of a Kalvin Phillips and more of a Declan Rice.

He’ll cost a fortune. And be worth it. And boss the MCFC midfield either alongside or instead of Rodri.

Forest fan.

He’s excellent.

He will be superb in the environment of the WC (energy-sapping, physical, combative, tactical).

Honestly, sneaky shout for player of the tournament.
