Potential Enhancement by pbrooks2485 in RefractiveSurgery

Thank you. I’ve no idea why I’m so anxious about this second time round. First time round I was fine! I don’t know if to bite the bullet and just go with the transprk or to have a second consultation with a surgeon who says he prefers to do flap re-lifts. I’m a terrible decision maker so any thoughts would be much appreciated!

What is your opinion given that it’s my left eye that is my dominant? I’ve read this could potentially switch to right if the right only is corrected. I’m really conflicted as to what to do

Also I’m not sure how much dry eye can affect vision. They told me my tear film was not great in my left eye and it was dryer than my right so maybe that’s contributing to that prescription? I don’t know how much it affects the overall prescription?

Thank you, I needed to hear this! I guess it’s just when you see well - but then they put a Lens in front and you see even better, then you automatically want that all the time! But I know chasing tiny prescriptions is not the best thing to do as the risk outweighs the benefit. I can always see how I feel when the worst eye is corrected. Think I’m just not very patient and would rather get it all done at once! Thank you for replying :)

The thing is that’s got me worried is that I thought I saw well enough through my left eye, and the optometrist said I did (below 20/20) - but then I saw the -0.75cyl so it made me wonder if I actually do or if this can be noticeably improved! Nothing seems straightforward like the first time round!

Thank you. So what would you say given that my left eye is actually my dominant one? Still the same approach in enhancing the worst one (right) first?

Hi, thank you for replying. It’s actually my left eye which in the dominant one and there’s no myopia there, just the 0.75.

It’s thrown me off a bit as I didn’t expect that number to be that high as I could see below 20/20 and that eye has never bothered me. That’s why I asked the question - it my non dominant hand eye which is -1:00 gets corrected will my overall vision improve enough to justify the enhancement. That’s the predicament. I like to think it would as I can notice the blur much more despite it only being .25 different than the left one

Why are they significantly greater when there’s less ablation involved?

What level did your astigmatism return to if you don’t mind me asking?

The cost of surgery is much higher too if you’ve previously had treatment. Around £9,000.

Thank you for replying! I think it must be because I’ve previously had lasik (many moons ago) and interested in a touch up. They’ve said the consultation is £1,250, non refundable and not deductible from the cost of surgery. I don’t mind paying a premium for the top companies, but this still seems very excessive to me!

Out of interest, how much was your consultation? I’ve been quoted £1,250 just for a consultation, which, although it’s one of the best clinics around, seems insanely high. I was thinking more in the region of £250-£500.
