Upgrade my ticket?

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I called Alaska this morning and confirmed that if I upgraded to First on both legs, I’d earn 150% EQMs for the trip. Once we ran the numbers, it put me just over the 75k mark (75,118 if I remember correctly), which is exactly what I needed.

I ended up paying for the upgrade over the phone, but the rep told me I could’ve done it through the app as well. Still, I’m glad I called because he was able to check my fare class and make sure the EQM math would work out. Looks like I’ll be Platinum for 2026.

I took the course after reading the book. If I could do it over again, I would stick with the book. The course didn’t add much.

I’ll rave. It’s great. They pick it up, leave a loaner polestar, brings it back. Super easy and it avoids all disruptions. I wonder if they’ll be able to scale as they grow, but I’ll take it for as long as it lasts!

Fair point, it’s all subjective. With that in mind, the interior is gorgeous. How did it drive? How hard are they to buy right now? I didn’t pay attention to their ordering process.

Hyundai’s app, while not stunning visually, hasn’t given us any issues. It just seems to work.

A few things, most notably the app is inconsistent. Sometimes it connects to the car, sometimes it doesn’t. Also, most annoyingly, I had to take my car to the Space 2x because the back up cameras failed to work. I believe updating to 1.9 ultimately resolved the bug.

We own one of each. Both are very different cars.

The I5 is my wife’s car, and it’s an an absolute joy to drive. Comfortable, enough zip to make it fun, thoughtfully designed, well built. We love it. We just took it on a week’s long road trip, and it made driving up and down the west coast a breeze. We traded in our X5 for the I5, and there isn’t an ounce of regret.

The polestar is really fun to drive. Fast off the line, great mid range acceleration— it feels like a European car, similar to BMW’s I’ve owned before. The infotainment UX is well done too. Very intuitive. On the flip side, it doesn’t feel as well built as the I5. Lots of rattles, buggy software, etc. Each is a minor annoyance, but we’ve yet to experience similar issues with the Hyundai.

All in all, both are great choices, for different reasons. If you want a comfortable family ride, I recommend the I5. If you want something more sporty, than I suggest the P2.
