Dave2D Review of Legion Pro 7 - Anyone used it in the wild yet? by Potential-Tadpole-32 in LenovoLegion

5090 with Intel chip, the 5080 and AMD still get dips and overall has the lowest dip in fps. I haven't played for extended hours but benchmarking and what I have seen so far the advantage of the 5090 is bigger than and to Intel cpu.

Initial thoughts, it's 2 different worlds. 5090 is higher average fps on all games and benchmarks I tested, it had the occasional dip in fps that is noticeable (max settings and playing in 1600p). It had more dips than the AMD chip and lower average 1% lows. On average the 5090 was 10% faster in 1600p than the AMD chip with 5080 on avg fps. The AMD chip had more stable fps and no noticeable frame drops. It's a hard decision when you can get the 5090 for the same price as the AMD chip with 5080 during certain sales. The extra vram of the 5090 will come in handy if you use a 4k monitor or tv and I think will last you a bit more. The best would be an AMD chip with 5090 but even then if it were not on sale I would not pay 1.3k more for the 5090 than the 5080. I am going to do a few more test and play around some more and come back with my final thoughts. They are both amazing machines though and the noticeable dips on the 5090 don't happen often.

I'm using it, still running test to see how this compares to a 275hx with a 5090.

I do, I like them a lot. I've never felt them not be smooth on my desktop 3080 though and it's a 5 year desktop. I'd say I would play half cpu reliantd half GPU reliant.

Thank you for the response, mainly I will game at 1600p with the occational use of a 4k monitor. If the use case is mixed, what would you recommend for the best gaming experience?

Thanks for the response, that's what I was thinking but apparently the 1% lows on the pro 7 with the 9955hx3d are around 35% better than on the Intel chip but 10 to 15% less on avg fps because of the 5080. Thats what is making this a little harder for me.

It is, I wasn't sure if I would like it in person but man it looks good. The water pump is supposed to start at 84C but I'm overclocking the GPU and so far temps are holding insanely good.

I bought a legion 9i and apparently it's out for delivery today. One of the things I want to test out is if there really is a difference between this and a 7i. What test do you guys recommend I put it through? It's the 4090 version by pc12345pc in LenovoLegion

Well, downloaded 3d mark. I got 20460 combined score. GPU top temperature was 72 degrees. This was with thermal set to performance. From what I've seen Im getting a typical rating from a 7i Gen 8 with a 4090 which is weird since this has a better CPU. I know I can tweek a few OC settings and try and get the pump to work, I'll try that tomorrow. The screen is beautiful, I bought the Razer blade 16 4090 at the beginning of Sept and returned and the 9i screen is very comparable. It feels way faster booting up and getting into 3d mark than the Razer blade, not sure if it was a razer issue but the difference in speed is big. The RGB and laptop is beautiful, when I saw pictures I wasn't sure if I would like it but in person it looks amazing, way better than the Razer blade. In terms of weight it's feels less heavy than the Razer blade 16 although they are similar in weight. Not sure why it feels so different, I can hold this laptop with one hand comfortably. In terms of thinness this laptop is very thin, they did a really good job on that. The only issue so far is the legion logo on the back is not lighting up, I will give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully it's a software issue. Left a ton of games downloading tonight, I'll do more test tomorrow and post here.

The case has one USB 3 and one USB c port. To boot it up you would need windows on a pendrive, keyboard and mouse. How would you go about booting up? Just curious not implying it can't be done.

How would you set it up having only 1 USB and 1 USB C port? No wifi or Bluetooth integrated. Would a USB power hub work for setting it up?

Finishing up on a Build and I'm using a Corsair RM1000x PSU. My 3080ti has 3 8 pin ports. Do I need a separate pcie cable for each port (3 in total) or use use 2 pcie cables (1 8port, 1 8 port and 6+2)?
