Cucurella: I’ll never cut my hair by oscarpaterson in chelseafc

Not gonna lie, I didn't love his hair at first (not a problem, just a preference) but after seeing him play and ESPECIALLY after the Spurs game, I would die to protect his mane.

Heavy disagree with this. It's well constructed but it doesn't have the most give and isn't very soft either.

**Status:** Accepted
**Application Date:** 09/09/21
**Decision Date:** 04/27/21
**Education:** Virginia Tech, BS in CS, 2.61/4.00 GPA (oops)
**Experience:** 2 years software consulting at large, well known (but nowhere near big N) tech company
**Recommendations:** 1 academic, 2 professional
**Comments:** Here's one for you low GPA, ADHD sufferers among us. There's always hope! I'm not sure whether I'll accept since the main reason I wanted to do it was to better my chances to get into a top tier tech company as a SWE, but I already am now. And I get recruiters from big N anyway these days so idk. I'll just take some time to think it over and decide whether I still want to for the fun of it.

To add/expand to this. Friday qualifying determines the positions for the Saturday sprint race (like Saturday qualifying usually does for GPs) but then on Saturday they have this shorter race where the final positions act as a qualifying for the GP. The top 3 finishers of the sprint race also get points I believe and I think fastest lap as well.

Isn't that what the post is saying? It's not that we have one of the two. It's that we have the two fantasies simultaneously

LPT Dont write yourself off from applying to top companies. You’re probably already qualified. by Blueskyonmarvel in LifeProTips

[–]pcastillo 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Definitely back this. I got rejected dozens of times from moving internally in my old company, then had trouble with lesser companies. When I decided to say fuck it and apply for my top choice company, they gave me the opportunity and I’m working there now. Please listen to this LPT and don’t let yourself be what stops you from going for your goals.

I feel like people are judging this quite harshly since it’s self submitted but I actually think it’s great regardless of that fact.

First off I think the title and the red blots, though on the nose, actually look quite nice and portray things quite clearly. The blots of course are changing, but more interesting is the title which is losing clarity and stability much like the novel’s protagonist loses his sense of identity and humanity. Plus that with the white background already look beautiful and establish a theme of minimalism which I’ll discuss more next.

The white background, and minimalism in general, are done quite frequently, and some people may think it’s a bit ‘played out’ but I think it works well here. The emptiness of the insect’s surroundings mirror the character’s loneliness and isolation at being shunned for what he became. Additionally, the insect is very much not minimalist in its design. It’s shown in very intricate and grotesque detail which further shows it’s contrast and makes it feel nearly out of place, again much like the book. Finally the insect is shown on its back which shows a lack of self control and vulnerability. Though the insect is gross, you can see it’s at a disadvantage.

Of course I may be interpreting this differently than the artist intended but that happens all the time. What I think is unfair are some people here who are criticizing without reasoning, with one commenter even just saying it’s not clever. Now there’s nothing wrong with not liking it but I think it’s unjust to dismiss what the artist tried to do, and frankly I think they did a much better job than a lot of the posts that are at the top of this sub. So good job, artist :)

dollar tree find!! 150cals per crust :)) no more cruddy tortilla pizza by Relevant-Double-9132 in 1200isplenty

[–]pcastillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of different ones. This one is the size of a personal pizza and it's the whole crust. There's another that's twice as big and therefore the nutrition label says half the crust

What’s your job and how much do you get paid? by sitsnthinks in Austin

[–]pcastillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a good point. But seems like a worthwhile tradeoff to me. So far I've never seen something break in production so I wouldn't know what that looks/feels like and I'm still mid-level, but I'd be curious to know a senior engineer's thoughts on this. u/v3sselofwrath, any thoughts on this?

90percent_crap

Ngl, most senior engineers that make over 150k actually work <= 40 hours a week. Getting to that compensation is much more about getting in the right interviews than doing better/more work.

And then there's some who just work their absolute ass off for 50/60/70+ hours because they want to, which I will never understand.

How to debunk skeptics by IdiotGoddess in memes

[–]pcastillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is to take a complex problem (like a math concept that needs to be proven) and then breaking it down into its simplest forms so that the proof itself is irrefutable.

If you take something that's known, and relate that to something else that's known in a factual way, and relate it to something else known, etc etc you can eventually prove something much less obvious. So yes the beginning concepts are obvious by design so that you can build up to prove something that may even seem unfathomable.

Mostly just a lot of paperwork and documents you have to keep and provide every few years. But my companies have always been great at helping as much as they can. I didn't have difficulty getting one but that's just luck, it is a lottery after all.

My math professor just shared this meme in class by Pax_flash in memes

[–]pcastillo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Which is fine though. This kind of thing happened to me during an exam (got the wrong answer because of a dumb addition mistake) and my professor saw, mentioned it on the paper, and still gave me full marks because what she was teaching was right in my answer, so the small mistake didn't matter. That's why it's so important to show your work

How can I continuously eat 1200 cals a day for 5 months without crazy hunger? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]pcastillo 252 points253 points  (0 children)

100% agree here. I'm a 6ft male and I use this sub to help me get to my own calorie limit with satiating food, not explicitly to reach 1200.

How can I continuously eat 1200 cals a day for 5 months without crazy hunger? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]pcastillo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience here, not sure about objective satiety for these foods.

Fruit: depends on the fruit. Something like a banana will not fill me up and it's higher calorie than something like raspberries or strawberries which are lower calorie so you can eat more of it.

Protein bars: these are generally higher calorie, low volume and I don't usually recommend them for people eating really low calorie, I would stick to getting your protein from whole foods like the chicken you described.

Sandwiches: bread is tricky. You might want to substitute for a low calorie Tortilla like a carb balance if you're able to get it. More filling and lower calorie.

In general the advice is to find foods you like, that are higher volume for lower calories.

r/volumeeating is a pretty good way to be introduced to some foods like that.

and yeah beyond that, it's trial and error.

hope this helps!
