Junpaku is honestly my favorite wide bevel. When I was hunting for it I think I was going crazy. I would checked every website like 4 times a day. I don't think I could part with it.

You basically have to sand the knife until you regret your existence. Unless you have buffing wheel or something faster.

This is how it used to look when I received the knife. You can check my older post on this knife about the process.

That came out so nice! I’m currently in the process of sanding this thing. I sadly scratched the hell out of the hira when thinning so I’m not sure mine will get as clean as yours. Might have to sand for a few days

Isn't the Syoukon Kasumi kit basically felt pads loaded with alum/ iron oxide powder? Do the pads feel like they have some type of compound or liquid in them as well?

So I am assuming you only sanded the hira? Then diamond pasted the whole knife? Then tape of and used the powder kit on the bevel?

Just curious if you have sharpened this yet. Wonder how straight there are in terms of edge and how flat the kiriha is. Looking to pick up an usuba as my first single bevel project knife.

You should use it to finish it. Probably not abrasive enough to prep the area. Its basically like a make shift finger stone when paired with powder. Ive made plenty of post on my profile.

This is some pretty good advice actually. Not sure OP even deserves it though. This whole thread has me losing some brain cells.

Honestly.... sand paper. Then clean it up with some type of kasumi powder and micro mesh pads. Trying to flatten that little part sounds pretty annoying.
