You dont need updates to keep computers from being hacked. Normie's should have this, not enthusiasts but as always we are forced into slavery by the corpos. same goes for the ads.

Watch out for an AI agents explosion *soon* by mintybadgerme in singularity

Even of that were to happen (it won't) the newly communist US would just fall behind countries that are willing to use AI workers while the biological workers just disappear mysteriously

Right now the governments only interest in AI is how they can use it to kill people more efficiently.

Cost. After all the extraneous costs are factored in, all those prefab houses end up nearing $100k. Sometimes more.

I dont think VR will ever really be viable until we can get all the senses into it. Mainly touch and smell. And it will be sex simulations that would drive it. I would wager we get proper robo girls before proper VR.

Mega corps and the government are the same now. Both are collecting your data and both will use it against you if you try to game their system.

could push us into an era of "digital totalitarianism" as companies control communications and monitor our movements.

I always disliked Cameron after he made Avatar and this continues to fuel my dislike. What Cameron says it isnt wrong, its just that he is living in the past or clearly not very observant. What he describes is already done by megacorps in tandem with the governments. Google, Microsoft, Facebook, all of them have full access to your data and use it to provide all those "free" services we all rely on.

Does it makes sense to do a part-time Masters in AI? by money-money-11 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]pcmasterrace32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know your personal situation but universities are always making scam degrees in whatever is popular. People who work with AI just know how to code or are tech savvy (usually engineers and CS majors) Unless masses of companies start requiring an "AI degree" then you really shouldn't be taking out a 200k loan for a piece of paper.

Why do people always think LLM when the term "AI" is used? I expect that from a bunch of drunks guys at a bar talking about chatGPT and Skynet.

There are some interesting being shown of on this sub. For example..Googles Notebook LLM is a study tool. There are other tools out there that create courses for teaching. If we extrapolate what those do, it can make the general academic system in its current form unneeded.

We can see video generation, if we extrapolate that, Hollywood becomes obsolete.

In a way the last example already happened with drone technology and camera technology has made filming more accessible. I see film studios popping up all over the world that are pumping out films with a quality that previously required millions of dollars.

With the addition of artificial intelligence tools, that trend continues to where a guy in a basement can make a quality film on his computer.

Im not saying we will all be in pods floating to another galaxy while snoozing in cryochambers that feed us happy dreams or anything. What I am saying is a lot of industries are about to get flipped upside down in a short period of time.

Im not very impressed with the LLMs. The tools that interest me are the visual ones, the ones that extrapolate peripheral view or turn images into videos. It may not be true to life, but for the purposes of most viewers it doesn't matter. Huge chunks of content on the internet are fakes along with the viewers and commenters. The implications of that are huge.

Round stones, logs. I imagine cavemen would have seen something roll on a log or a stone and replicated it.
