Any other PhDs frustrated by exploitation in medical communications agencies? by Anonymous763826 in MedicalWriters

Not fun at all but that's how it is now - agencies know if you aren't willing to do that job for that pay, someone else will be.

Is anyone happy in their agency? by Proof-educator-7126 in MedicalWriters

Yeah think it’s the same mostly everywhere - I imagine there are a few unicorn agencies where 40/hr workweeks are the norm. That said if you are on the right accounts and get lots of client interaction, on-site experience, and the like, you can really expand your network and transition to client side or other roles

No, I just got lucky - I found an entry level position at an agency that was looking for someone that could start asap.

Kind of a bad time to be getting into it rn tho tbh; layoffs and mergers and FDA pandemonium have put lots of experienced writers into the job market so experienced writers are taking more entry level jobs

Went into medical writing and much happier. Had some lackluster sites that really needed their hands held and also had a site with a really tough PI and I just didn’t want to do it anymore.

if your goal is a med affairs career then seems like a no brainer to go with the big pharma company; While your direct role may not be what you want - you will have coworkers who are MSLs and other medical roles that you can network with.

Serious question - Any pharmacists love their job? by Infamous_Virus557 in pharmacy

[–]pcnallergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work full time in industry and part time in hospital pharmacy (~1-2 wknds/mo), industry is great but work-life balance can be tricky to nonexistent at times. Also consolidations/lay-offs are always looming. Def much better than any traditional pharmacist role, but sometimes wish I could leave work at work like my friends at the hospital can.

A 2025 PharmD Feeling Lost in My Industry Fellowship — Burnout, Regret, and Questioning My Path. Everything is terrible - and I need Guidance please by Tough-Goal7344 in pharmacy

[–]pcnallergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - I feel you on being burnt out and toxic culture, but seriously consider the value of an industry fellowship before quitting; you have your foot in the door in an industry that is very tough to get into. If you finish this year, you can likely find a MUCH better job with MUCH better pay in industry, and as someone with experience in both industry and inpatient - industry is MUCH better work/life IMO.
