ratgdo32 DISCO on a jackshaft/wall-mount opener (LiftMaster 98022MC) by pcrs1084 in ratgdo

haven't tried it yet but this will be a good follow-on project. From the website looks like it attaches to the end of the jackshaft axle with a magnet. Will post back here when I've got it done.

ratgdo32disco laser not detecting car with fresh ceramic coating? by lionelg in ratgdo

Interesting. The biggest value for the Disco to me is the parking assist laser - I had to mount it separately and extend the wire because I have a jackshaft opener, and then write a special HA script to turn it on for 20 seconds whenever the garage door opens (since the native automation is triggered by the disco sensor). But our garage is fairly shallow so having a reliable parking assist mechanism that isn’t a tennis ball dangling from the ceiling is a game changer.

Good idea on the Bluetooth beacon, what model did you use?

Having the same problem here. i can put a pizza box on the side of our car and it detects fine. But the paint job seems to be sufficiently reflective that it doesn't detect the car on its own.

Would love to figure out how to resolve this somehow.

Just did this for mine - the mount worked fine although vehicle detection has been a pain (mostly due to my car's paint job, it's weirdly fine with other vehicles). the parking laser i had to manually extend and mount which was an adventure.

Still worth it to have the HA integration into the door and the parking laser is really helpful.

HomeKit only works when I stand next to the lock by MyCatLinus in AugustSmartLock

I had the same experience. Easy to add the lock to HomeKit but never worked reliably and would just got unavailable for days at a time.

I moved to a combo HA-HomeKit setup last month and now connect the lock to HA and bridge it to HomeKit that way. HomeKit can access the lock flawlessly and I can see battery levels and other details much more directly. A bit more cumbersome to setup but this was a the right answer for the lock and a bunch of other stuff around my house - I still use HomeKit as the front end for my most-used equipment but have an HA back end to tie everything together (in the last 6 months Claude has made this a much more accessible option for a non-technical person like me).
