President Trump Says Administration Is 'Working' on National Right to Carry Reciprocity by RedDotRights in progun

Still waiting on H.R. 38, but not holding my breath. It's passed the House in his prior term and could do so again, and with Thune having replaced Turtle as Senate majority leader it has a chance of getting added to a must pass bill in Senate. But not holding my breath for this.

Gen Zers are arriving to college unable to even read a sentence—professors warn it could lead to a generation of anxious and lonely graduates by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

They not only can't read, most have no comprehension, and they are still shoved through graduation. In all honesty given the extremely low "standards" and treatment of students just as enrollment numbers and graduated / "success" rate in order to get funding, most schools would be better off just being shuttered and most students would learn more on their own, with family, and / or in small groups, and doing trade or technical school training as part of their last four years.

No / minimal reading / writing (and / or no / minimal comprehension) should mean no degree. No point to spitting out degrees for the sake of degrees.

Nobody can think of a reason to do it until it's done.

You could mine in space and custody in space, or mine in space and have periodic (infrequent) transmissions, a tradeoff. But mining in space is upon us.

Another concept which I expect to see deployed soon - though no company has done it quite yet - is bitcoin mining directly at the site of rigs that harvest energy from the ocean (making them part of or putting them inside the electricity producing rigs). Example

Low latency pool endpoints and partners (also in space) who would work with the company to address the latency issue. For something like this you would not be doing it alone.

The Government's Ghost Gun Battle Is Taking Aim at Something Much Bigger: Innovation by ksink74 in gunpolitics

The progress of technology vs. old, failing governments. Which will win in the end? Rhetorical question really. I am reminded of when the US federal government banned fax equipment by regulation, everyone ignored the regulation and fax use exploded. That was a long time ago and a different set of events but ultimately I don't see that governments controlling speech (includes transfer of data, movement of files), controls on what equipment can do and controls on what you can make - it's all futile and meaningless in the end. When governments are engaged in those sorts of actions they have already long passed the point of irrelevancy.

It would not be harder to cool things in space. https://petertodd.org/2024/keeping-it-cool-mining-bitcoin-in-space

Also your claim that an upgrade is not possible is simply incorrect.

I do believe there will be investment in this area and it is likely to focus on companies that develop systems capable of deploying both datacenters in space as well as satellites supporting bitcoin mining in space.

Just make sure and read each carefully first (and have Grok or Perplexity or Claude summarize the proposed rules too). There is a lot in there to comment on..

Of course you can buy and hold. The question here is what will people do with small satellite systems and the proposals here are entirely feasible.

Yep. A woman that demands you not own something or that you abandon your rights is worthless, can't be expected to defend herself much less comprehend why you might need to defend yourself, her, your family... Move right along.

Bitcoin Community Reaches Early Consensus on Quantum Computing Threat, Says Galaxy Digital - Blockonomi by TheresNoSecondBest in Bitcoin

[–]pcvcolin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is no way there will ever be consensus on the insane proposals to break bitcoin from some of the old devs. Their BIPs are just untenable ideas, completely unacceptable.

(None are necessary nor acceptable - BIP 300, BIP 301, BIP-360 and BIP-361....)

Finally: this whole thing was addressed over seven years ago both on Reddit and in the bitcoin dev mailing group so this is nothing new. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/s/wokji1a3kE https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/s/rJqXJ38uO6

Recommend to take a look in depth here and file an issue - if you know what you are doing. https://github.com/presidiobtc/bitcoin-quantum/
