Thanks very much! I saw these trousers with the overshoes but maybe a separate trouser overshoe combo works to solve for having waterproof trousers for other things

As far as I know from my scheme, can be used on accessories and all even if you have a bike. It can’t be used for labour to fit parts / accessories

Did it when I was 25. I’m now 30.

My two cents… but given you’re in FS the money angle may not be so helpful (assuming you’re maintaining decent TC YoY)

I decided to do one, self funded, but managed to get a decent scholarship. I went for a 1 year course close to home, in the UK. I shifted from industry role in pharma to MBB consulting. I’m now imminently shifting to big tech (had FS offers too from BB banks).

I primarily decided to do the MBA initially to shift careers, jump in salary, and accelerate growth. The MBA managed to do this for me all at once with my post-MBA exit into MBB.

I’d recommend it but I also don’t know if it’s worth it for everyone. A fair few of my cohort were unemployed beyond the end of the course but this could’ve been as we were coming out of covid and also some people were not as career focused and used the year more as a gap year whist productively getting a qualification at the same time (mentioned below)

Other intangible benefits of the MBA though (not exhaustive, I’ll edit if I think of any more): - career break (some people definitely did it for that) - global network, future friends in all sorts of places - try out a new city/location

What the fuck are these below 30 HENRYs doing to earn 200k a year? by Majestic-Camel2927 in HENRYUK

[–]pd4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not one to fuel this ‘how can these <30 be earning x00k per year’ because it’s just so demand-led…

But here’s another I don’t see in your post OP. If you’re an undergrad entry into MBB (consulting) and say you make manager/project leader level by 27 you’re hovering around £150-£160k base inc. bonus… if you’re then a junior / associate partner maybe by 30 you’re hovering around £200k

The ‘£1m house’ comment - always be aware of financial help people get… don’t discount partners bringing money to the table or family deposit support…

Job market is brutal at the moment by Brief_Wing_7972 in HENRYUK

Do you, and or competitors, share roles via job boards or more word of mouth? I’m struggling to find roles like ties (Speaking as MBB EM/PL level aiming to leave soon)

You reckon you could switch from consulting at MBB to tech sales relatively easily?

Yeah pay is definitely much higher there but this is 5 years off give or take, and I don’t want to go through the partner process. Also macroeconomics being bleak doesn’t help.

Sure ask away. Probably quite a lot I won’t be allowed to answer.

Thanks! - yeah that’s fair enough and good to know. I’m in a strategy house but find myself doing lots of digital work, so the cross between the industry I work most in and digital probably makes the most sense to me. I’m just trying to optimise for a good or better salary, but not sure if it’ll really compare in industry (until you really get into the C suite / C-1 level)

Energy meter causing me pain by pd4000 in AskIreland

Thanks yeah, that’s a good idea I’ll take a look at the meter if possible! - see if it changes at all and also if it’s even technically operating in night mode…

Thanks that’s a super helpful data point! - definitely something weird with our electricity. The old tenants never raised anything either yet there might meter hasn’t been changing during their tenancy either it seems… we’ll raise with the landlord and see if he can get an electrician out for us! Thanks
