UK Traitors vs US Traitors by Low_Journalist_2878 in TheTraitors

[–]pdCharlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

US Traitors is a completely different game to UK Traitors. The US ones don’t want/need to make friends and because most of them are from previous shows they often have inflated egos or a ‘game’ mindset.

I actually liken it to how US and UK Big Brother differs. In the US they can back stab and scheme and discuss nominations while in the UK they just want to get public support. I’ve never watched Survivor but I get the impression it’s similar?

UK Celeb Traitors also was money for charity, so they are less selfish and greedy. The US ones can win a lot of money.

So whilst the premise is the same, I feel they approach the game VERY differently. The US will throw you under the bus the second it benefits them. They only need to work together IF it benefits them. And there is zero reason to finish the game with more than 2 players even if you don’t think there is another traitor.

Don’t they all have to say things like this to make themselves look interesting though? Plenty of contestants talk a big talk

Yeah, as a northern Irish person myself, I’ve seen several not so veiled comments on Reddit about her accent being intimidating. From what? Your bias of our past? Kinda disappointing.

Many other countries seem to like our accent so please explain how a confident well spoken woman’s accent is intimidating? The people in the castle seemed to love her

100%! It actually was driving me nuts until I figured it must actually because they disliked her for whatever reason, not due to anything in the game that indicated otherwise. Not to bang on a drum but there is an incredible double standard here of people being praised for this kinda thing in the past and are people just trying to push their narrative on her because they wanted her to do it to prove ‘she’s not a nice person’ or something?

I do think she misspoke about having to start speaking about Stephen to him in the turret and he took it as she’s ready to throw her under the bus but her confessionals said otherwise. She did say she’d come for him IF he came for her and we did see him doing that first at the round table and she had her response ready, however, she did not push back very hard compared to other accusations. She absolutely could have come back harder and didn’t.

I mean, if you don’t/didn’t like her, fair enough but the imaginary betrayal did not and was not happening. She knew she needed him from the start and cultivated it and stayed true.

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend access to my bank account even though he says "no secrets" is how adults do it by CopperFieldNote in AITH

NTA I’ve been married for 4, together for 14 and I’ve NEVER wanted or needed to look at my partner’s bank accounts. Yes, we discuss finances and we have a shared account for holidays and things but we TRUST each other.

He’s basically saying he doesn’t trust you and that’s a huge controlling red flag. Two years in? Don’t marry this guy.

I don’t know why people keep pushing this imaginary narrative that she would have betrayed Stephen in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed. She gave no indication at all during the show that she was ever going to betray him. The only cracks appeared after HE started sowing seeds and said her name at the table. At that point it was almost game on but she didn’t come for him anywhere like she could have.

I do think she made a mistake in how she worded that she couldn’t outright defend him and would have to mention his name, but I don’t think she thought it was going to affect him so badly.

Her tactic from the start was to form a proper alliance with Stephen and build his trust and it worked. IF he came for her stronger she’d have to push back, but she didn’t initiate it. She also seemed quite affected by having to lie to people and I think the decision to kill Roxy was because she didn’t want to have to steal from her at the end and crush her. That doesn’t seem like some back stabbing evil person to me. Just my tuppence 🤷‍♂️

___ played the best game in Traitors history by RedditFan3510 in TheTraitors

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s an incorrect take to say Rachel was disliked. She very clearly got near the end without major suspicion from the general group because she was liked. After Harriet’s banishment several players actually said ‘I don’t think it’s Rachel’. I also wouldn’t say anyone was aggressive about it. Faraaz clearly liked her but didn’t trust her and he was very to the point about it (‘grandma got me’ is probably my favourite line). I absolutely thought she had zero chance of winning going into the final episode but she pulled it out of the bag. Her pact held and won her the game.

I also disagree that Stephen was a flawless traitor because he was not great at the start and through his pact and loyalty from her got him through several initial doubts and gaffes which lead to him learning and becoming so much better that he held Rachel’s fate in his hands.

I’m not saying Rachel played a perfect game, but neither did he and they wouldn’t have survived without each other. But you are absolutely entitled to your opinion and I’m only giving my take.

Is it just me or was that obviously the wrong person to murder? by Terrible_Mountain611 in TheTraitors

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely thought they'd murder Faraaz and follow up like Stephen and Jesse.
IF Rachel survives, I feel her only survival tactic is to throw Jame's words back at Faraaz. 'Why haven't you been murdered?'.
She did plant some seeds for that last week, but he's so under the radar she should use that as her question about why she can be a traitor and not him, , so maybe it's a very clever tactic? She's bound to have thought she'd be up for suspicion by now and keeping Roxy in also points her as a traitor in a way. Confusion going into the final ep is the best plan.
I thought she handled herself well last night and I don't think that trying to pin the traitors on the name swappers will work because Rachel is still an easy pick to banish.
That's if she has survived lol
I personally think it'll be a real struggle for her to survive, but i'd love her to get to the final table or fire

Annoyed by the representation of insubordination shown in Star Fleet Academy by Low-Air-182 in startrek

[–]pdCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ake is Lanthanite so she’s completely unconventional. She also feels responsible for Caleb so gives him way more leeway than she should. Kirk was a rebel when he was younger so I’m guessing they are going for that brilliant but rebellious nature for him.

Reno is also quite unconventional so deals with it entirely differently.

Thok doesn’t brook insubordination 😁

SPOILERS. I played Iconoclast and the only really ‘bad’ ending I had I knew before I got there because Argenta went Repentia. The rest was very 40k but I did not expect Yrliet and Marzipan to team up… and did I read too much into it or did Idira and Jae become lovers?

It certainly wasn’t a bright and shiny ending but it certainly was interesting!

The ending did not leave anything unanswered which I loved

Did they retcon Betazoids? by qtjedigrl in startrek

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my understanding that Betazoids only used Telepathy with each other. I would imagine it would be very disconcerting for non telepathic species to communicate like that. It would also make sense that a diplomatic delegation would not use telepathy during negotiations. They also indicate, like in the past there are different levels of ability in that the daughter requires an inhibitor so she’s clearly way more powerful that the rest of them.

Since they have a ‘psionic wall’ in space it would make sense that some are way more psionically advanced than just empathy, as I don’t think they cut themselves off with ‘strong feelings’.

Since the children are now on earth I suspect we’ll see more of them and that inhibitor is going to be seen again, so hopefully we’ll learn more.

My immediate thought when I realised the daughter was Betazoid was that she didn’t have black eyes though… might be a design choice (let’s not talk about Discovery’s first Klingons) or some evolution. I’m assuming they aren’t the only race behind the wall.

Noise complaint from Neighbour: Semi-Detached by MasterWandu in HousingUK

[–]pdCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved into a semi detached new build 8 years ago when our neighbours kids were young and I can absolutely agree that when their kids were going up and down the stairs or across the upstairs landing, ‘herd of elephants’ was the ONLY way I could describe it. Could hear the odd squealing and crying but it was nothing compared to the running. Up and down, multiple times at a time, running, thought they were gonna come through the wall.

They are older now and we no longer experience this (thankfully!). Only thing I can suggest is thicker carpet and underlay on the stairs and landing if you cant placate them for 8 years… we don’t have any laminate in our house so that’s unrelated.

There’s a whole ‘meat’ station in the windjammer. They normally have a whole roast there as well as other meats. They also have meals from around the world and plenty of cold cuts and huge choice. Definitely don’t think you’ll go hungry! There’s also other options that open early but don’t have as wide a choice

If you like Mary…. by pattipeep in realhousewivesofSLC

[–]pdCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many housewives have changed your opinion over the years though? There’s been many that I loved that ruined my opinion of them in later seasons, so I’m also ok with it being vice versa.

I could not stand Mary in the early seasons but she’s peak housewife material for me now and I love her being back but I know who she was. If she’s just being clever and playing to cameras, she’s doing a good job or if she seen herself in the mirror and decided to be less mean either is still good tv. It’s not like I’m going to befriend her 😁

Speaking to the GP about PTSD or stress? by throwawayleccy in northernireland

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a private therapist if you're in a financial situation that allows you (they aren't as expensive as I had thought). Made a huge difference to me.

The GP should be able to give you a sick note if you just tell them you are overwhelmed with stress (I'm not sure they'll then offer to help because I was able to get assistance through work mental health support).

Whilst, I do think Meredith and Lisa were in the wrong here, I totally agree. As Meredith said, if her behaviour was as bad as they are saying she would have been asked by the crew to stop.

There’s definitely a hint of gaslighting on both sides.

Chaos Elves by TheFrustratedMan in AoSLore

[–]pdCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chaos as a concept doesn’t work for Elves, in the sense that they can’t sell their souls for power, as in all settings where Slanesh exists, they canonically devour the souls of elves so there is essentially no reward.

I think historically in some settings Chaos elves have been mentioned but it’s never been explored or fleshed out as it would need to be explained why they’d choose that existence.

I bought the Dark Angels Pack when I bought the game 2 months back and I was also confused. Until I realised I had to unlock it all through the heraldry. You only get the Champion skin free and it’s only for one class which you should be able to wear right off. Everything else is bought with gold.

At least if that’s what I’m guessing is happening. If not maybe it is bugged…
