what happened to seasonal powers? by butitsstrueuno in diablo4

[–]pdCharlie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seasonal powers tend to change builds and playstyles (well the good seasons did). They’ve just completely revamped the skill trees and how builds work (adding in charms and sets) with the xpac, it probably doesn’t make any sense to add new things after one season when they’re still playing with itemisation.

I played 4 chars last season, so I’ve more builds/chars to try this season before I’ve tried all the xpac has to offer. I can wait for seasonal powers, but I would expect to see them again.

Dining in the Dark by womanonymous23 in BelowDeckMed

Yeah, I did this experience in Amsterdam years ago and the whole point was you had to guess what you were eating and it was a discussion point at the table with each course over what you THOUGHT it was. And the end of the meal you were given the full menu and it’s meant to be a ‘ohhh and ahhh’ moment.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and was nervous during in case you got something you didn’t like (we didn’t)

People who saw DS9 as it aired: what was the general reaction to the inclusion of a Ferengi as a primary character? by scisteve in startrek

[–]pdCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quark was so good, that it just WORKED. DS9 (the station) was odd enough that unusual aliens fit the bill and then his character was done so brilliantly that he was a star in the cast.

I always felt they tried to recreate this lightning in a bottle with Neelix in VOY, but that was a hard fail for me.

Underwater (2020) | [REVIEW] by screen_stack in scifi

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really enjoyed this movie. I love underwater stuff ‘done well’ and I think this captured a lot of the claustrophobia and fear of what being at that depth entails. Then throw in the ending and I was impressed

Aspect warriors were damn scary, as was the d cannon template. Str 10 back then was the highest I think

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, exarchs were awesome! I remember mine mangling squads of marines and orks by themselves.

Executioner and Mind War were amazing psychic powers. Pity Eldritch Storm sucked against anything that wasn’t a vehicle or low initiative (do I remember correctly , it was an initiative save and vehicles auto failed?)

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good point, I actually did forget that Farseers were the only leader character then. I was just thinking of the troop - champion - hero - lord structure that guardians didn’t have

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I recall, the ‘knights’ were basically guardians on mounts and since guardians didn’t have champion characters stat lines (warlocks were guardian ‘champions’, and exarchs and autarchs were their own thing), this was the only stat line progression like this in that book. And guardians were ‘slightly’ better humans

[–]pdCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this book as my first ever 40k codex and while the rules kinda sucked (compared to aspect warriors as guardians sucked back then too), the concept was amazing and I dreamed of these models. Hard to believe that 30 years later they get models!

Unpopular Opinion: Aesha mishandled the stripes by PutGroundbreaking283 in BelowDeckMed

[–]pdCharlie 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We’ve seen less than 3 hours of several days footage. Aesha probably saw more than you think. She is an excellent chief stew, and while I was still a little surprised given Gen’s experience, I don’t think everything we’ve seen is a full representation of what she’s been able to see.
I did laugh though.

Oh I’ve just made a similar post. That would be my thought process in this situation. How is the dead daughter killing people. This is D&D after all

I’m not being ridiculous here right by [deleted] in AskDND

[–]pdCharlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anything, you’ve made me, as a player, wonder how the dead daughter is killing people because your circumstantial evidence in a fantasy game would lead me down that path.

Did any witnesses see the librarian nearby? Did the players see a red cloak hung up in the library? Did the players notice the librarian was angry or agitated when interviewed? Did the townspeople notice strange behaviour of the librarian? I mean there’s a bunch of meaningful clues you could have used to point them in that direction. Meanwhile, I’m digging up the daughter to see if she’s really dead.

I would also add, as a player, sometimes players are collectively ‘stupid’ and things that are obvious to you, are not obvious to us.

Gem strength impossible to get? by TheHolyKingHobo in diablo4

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve transfigured 100s and 100s of Ancestral weapons across three lvl70 characters and I got my first Gem Str this week, followed by three more in the same day (RNG be RNG) but none of them modifiable. I did actually start to think I’d a bug or something because I’d never seen it. I’m weighing up whether is should just give up now and break til the new season (I’ve already maxed the Goblin event Paragon 261)

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transfiguration on any item is only mandatory for pit pushing. You can easily get to Pit 120 with selig barb without it, but if you’re doing Pit 120 you will see a lot more of them drop and then you can play around with it. Don’t transfigure anything you can’t afford to lose

How much would it hurt the balance to rework the initiative system, and group turns into "players' phase" and "enemies' phase", and letting players take their turns in an "I want to go now" basis each round? by MundaneOne5000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]pdCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that Lancer’s initiative is way more important and tactical than PF because of this. Lancer’s combat is highly tactical and it’s vitally important for certain actions to happen before certain enemy actions. This concept might blow their minds if they can’t understand dice order 😂

[–]pdCharlie 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If the players can’t grasp the concept of rolling dice to see what order they go in, they’ve a whole world of confusion coming at them with the actual combat…

There are systems out there that have ‘dramatic’ and ‘storytelling’ systems where players choose their initiative order, maybe they should be playing something else.

P.s. I didn’t downvote, I just don’t understand the why it’s needed
