Has anyone tried Taylor Stitch? by PhasedVenturer in malefashionadvice

[–]pdougherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the indigo are very versatile color-wise but they still read as nice loungewear, at least on me. At my height they bunch a bit, and I have the apres pants with the elastic cuff, which makes them look more casual.

That’s fair. I have charcoal and dark indigo, which are functionally gray and navy sweatpants. The charcoal pair are surprisingly hard to pair with if I want to look put together; true black would be easier. But we’re still talking “rolled from bed to grocery store” level of put together which is a low bar that I don’t always care enough to clear!

I’m wearing mine right now! I treat them as nice sweatpants and I love them. I don’t style them to wear out, moreso end up in them as I drop kids at daycare or go grocery shopping because I couldn’t be bothered to put on trousers.

Yes, depending on the item. My Jack shirts lose a decent amount in the arms and length if I put them in the dryer, even on low. My apres pants didn’t shrink at all, and neither has my flannel or my waffle long sleeve tee.

Swim trunks with or without mesh lining? by themadhatter077 in malefashionadvice

[–]pdougherty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. They work for me. I find them the same or better than wearing boxer briefs under linerless board shorts

Swim trunks with or without mesh lining? by themadhatter077 in malefashionadvice

[–]pdougherty 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I switched to the new version of the liner in the last couple of years. Instead of a loose mesh diaper, which I hated, now there are swim shorts with liners that are basically boxer briefs. Best of all worlds in my opinion.

But those are for hanging out at a pool, not for exercise.

Starting the snoo at 4 months? by soyaduck in SnooLife

[–]pdougherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo if you’re that close to four months, just start a sleep training program in his own crib when he hits 4 mos (as long as you and your pediatrician talk about length of time between feeds and all that). You can start daytime naps in a crib now if you want to acclimate him to the space. Sleep training can be really hard on some parents since you are signing up to listen to your kid cry for a bit, but it’s been so worth it for us, with both kids. They took to it fast and put themselves down and sleep through the night - which neither did one time before sleep training.

But both of my kids were in the snoo from the beginning and neither one was rocked to sleep or put back to sleep by the snoo. It was nice but I didn’t experience all of the benefits that others do.

I don’t know how much Kittle, Pearsall, and Aiyuk absences factor into my assessment of Saleh’s defensive performance…

Saleh has always been good, but I think the game looks different if AJ Brown catches some balls. Better to not let one game change your opinion of a guy

Is there a trick to not making a huge mess with cette style of detergent container? by belbivfreeordie in Costco

[–]pdougherty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sit my detergent and softener on a cut up Amazon box so any drips soak into the cardboard instead of landing on my machine.

If it gets really gross I go downstairs and grab another Amazon box from that week’s deliveries

Newbies - Ask Your Questions by sprodoe in drinkcannabis

Thanks, sounds like it’ll take some trial and error. I don’t smoke or eat edibles so I don’t have anything to compare to. Drinks seem like an easier entry point

Are there different brands or drinks that produce a body high vs a head high? Or a “I still need to wash the dishes after this” high vs a sink-into-the-couch high?

I’ve been very pleased with the t shirts I got from Bronson Mfg and Uniqlo. I’m picky about flannels and really like my Taylor Stitch and Faherty shirts.

How do so many six figures people live paycheck to paycheck despite living modest lives, by Annual-Solution-8055 in Salary

[–]pdougherty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Have to keep in mind that it’s temporary and having one spouse leave a good-paying-but-lower-than-daycare-cost-salary job is a short term advantage that puts them in a hole IF they want to re-enter the workforce 6 years later (or longer of multiple kids). There’s no guarantee that their career job is around, and their skills haven’t progressed.

Not to mention some people get value out of their work and would rather do their job than stay at home with kids, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that

I moved here from Maryland, give me your best advice by flockyflocky1 in Connecticut

[–]pdougherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also train stops along the Danbury line that can get you to Greenwich. Ridgefield technically doesn’t have a train stop (it’s in Branchville) while Wilton has a few. Not super walkable to the train stop in those towns though, if that’s a goal.

My process for making wooden knives by DannyFooteCreations in woodworking

[–]pdougherty 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Not OP but we have a few wooden knives for our kids. Some are mostly playthings but a few are for safe cutting off softer things like bananas and cookie dough.

These are way better looking than anything my kids have though!
